Hi everyone, I’ve been experiencing this situation where whenever I use heroic leap, 7 times out of 10 it will cast directly where my mouse is before even clicking. So right when I press the keybind my character leaps where my mouse is not letting me adjust. I know some people love that and even use macro for target spell to be cast on mouse location but I don’t use macros and I don’t want this macro either lol. Even grappling hook for my outlaw does this and I don’t understand why. My question is simply does anyone know what could be causing this? Settings? Keybind problem? (I have in of Shift+F) Thanks for the help
Premature attackilation is a real problem amongst men, and they should have better healthcare in Azeroth for that type of thing!
are you positive you aren’t using a cast @ cursor macro or maybe some modifier that causes @ cursor?
what you are describing is exactly that for both abilities. maybe some addon that changes abilities to cast @ cursor when you hold down a modifier key?
Possibly addons I didn’t think of that I’ll try with addons off. I don’t see which addon could do this tho but worth a try. And yes I am sure that I don’t have any macro, I went into my macros and I don’t have a single macro in there
ESC → Options → Keybindings.
Check Quick Keybind Mode and then Click Casting.
You may have set a specific keybind to auto cast without a targeting circle.
lmao.
I’ll check this tonight thank you
To be specific Quick Keybind is just a fancier way to set your buttons.
But something might be routed to something else, etc. etc.
lmao.
The only thing that make me doubt that this is the problem is that I’ve had problems with my pc recently and I reinstalled wow like 5 times on different ssds and settings were reset everytime but I’ve experienced this before and after settings reset which is weird
During the pre-patch time period I had the same thing happening with my Night Fae Wild Spirits ability. It would go off wherever my mouse was currently pointing. No macros involved. However, other ground-targeted abilities on this and other toons were working normally – I haven’t been able to figure out a pattern. I theorized it might have something to do with the Press and Hold casting or Action Targeting features, but I haven’t done a detailed investigation.
make sure the box “hold while casting” is not checked in the interface.
I don’t use action targeting and I’ll try to turn off hold to cast but I tried holding it and its really random, sometimes it will go normally where it will let me click and select where i want to go but other times it just cast itself and I haven’t been able to identify a pattern.
I don’t know if this is your problem, but I do know there are settings somewhere for whether a cast activates on press down vs. release and I wonder if that has something to do with it. Might be worth checking.
this is possible I’ll have another look at the settings tonight
woah, what about your own reply made you laugh your who ars3e off? I am usually pretty easy to humor, but this one didn’t do anything for me. And the OP didn’t seem to have a whole lot of humor in it, either. So I’m just confused, why did you laugh all of your entire cheek, whole collection to the ground? And were you able to find it? Have it reattached? are you hole no… excuse me, whole*, now? I hope you’re doing well!
Might be it’s not even software-related, could be your mouse playing up. Have you got a spare mouse you can use to see if it’s that?
This was the answer for me.
Interface → Combat → uncheck “Press and Hold Casting”
Fixed my problem entirely.
this was happening to me. the cause was that I had recently turned on an option called "continuous casting, or it might have press and hold casting… one of those. anyway, if you turn that off again, this should stop. they SHOULD be unrelated, but sadly that is not the case.
omg thank you this was driving me nuts and i dont know how this got turned on
This started happening to me after I made a bunch of mouseover macros with my priest. Now it does it on all my characters. I think its a bug. I don’t recall changing any settings to do this. Did you end up finding a fix?
Yeah it was the hold to cast option
