Hey, I want to aim where I land. When I press the keybind of Heroic Leap (T) he insta leaps to where my cursor is pointing. I remember that I could set where I would land (it would show a green target)

It gets funky if you have cast on mouseover enabled in your settings. I do have it on as well but I do like having the reticle for much better control. To get around that, just make a macro that is just
/use Heroic Leap
That will force ignore the cast-on-mouseover feature.

There sure is. Targeting reticle behavior changed with DF launch. If you point somewhere on the world while holding down left click then press the ability hotkey, you’ll leap to your cursor. No macro. Sometimes it doesn’t even do it, it’s kind of annoying. Happens on my Evoker all the time with breath attacks, too.
I didn’t realize it might be a setting tho, gonna check that out tonight.
You realize what you described requires holding your left mouse button down, and therefore is not an auto leap right? Right? The dumb things I read on the forums…
As an aside, what you’ve described also doesn’t work. If you hold down your left mouse button and press your heroic leap keybind it just brings up the reticle. It doesn’t leap you.

You can enjoy being right, I’m still going to double check when I can get online. I didn’t make up my experience for imaginary forum points, it’s been a legitimately annoying thing I noticed since Evokers came out. I’m not here to purposely misinform the playerbase, and I’m sincerely sorry your mind instantly went there.
Figured it out and can recreate it. While using other abilities, like whirlwind, if I tap my Heroic Leap hotkey it activates it and I automatically leap to my cursor location. Seems to only work when the GCD is running. So it’s not that holding down the left mouse button activates it, but it is behaving like a @cursor macro without using a macro.
Note that unchecking “Press and Hold Casting” in the combat settings seems to disable this, I am very happy to notice.
