These MOP heroic dungeons are wildly over tuned. Just attempted Stormstout Brewery with a well geared group, everyone was north of lvl 40. Nobody can survive the first pull. It’s like you are doing zero damage and the packs are literally 1-2 shotting everything including the tanks. Regular mode seems about right though, it’s easy at this point and I expect to be doing heroics by now.
At what level did you have zero issues? I know I am gemmed out correctly for the bear tank, but the packs right at the door should not be one shotting people.
I was started them at 42, i dont know what level you can technically start them. But the gems do make a massive difference in the dmg out put, healing out and over all tankiness. I know i have hit 200k dmg using the thunder meta gem in big aoe pulls. I got no clue if thats alot right now or not but its the most i have seem so far.
They arent wildly overtuned and broken tho. Idk why you would jump to that conclusion when the modes been out for like 2 days
Blizz did zero work on any attempt at balance. I guess their AI is on vacation or something. Anyway, they’re just throwing us all into the deep end and saying “You guys figure it out for us.”
Since gems are so vital, I can’t believe they don’t have a simple gear-check mechanism to say “Hey, your gems are not good enough, therefore you can’t queue for heroics yet.”
But instead they just left it. Look, Blizz, if I’m not ready for heroic or raids, just tell me, I swear I can take it. But don’t open up the whole thing and expect me to die my way to success.
Just very un-fun. Back to retail, which although boring, at least makes sense to my brain and allows me to progress.
That’s the thing, they get harder once you reach level 70…a lot harder
I would recommend that everyone do them while leveling because once you hit 70 it takes a while to get back the power you lost due to scaling
Although, the OP mentions everyone being over level 40 and still struggling which doesn’t really line up with my experience doing heroics today. Usually the lower level players had better survivability that the level 70 toons
I’ve heard scaling breaks at 60, I’ve heard 64. 67, now 70…well I just hit 65 on my Warrior before leaving for work and I feel like I’ve only gotten stronger. The low levels were a slog but now I’m sneezing and clearing out an entire camp of quest mobs.
There are definitely certain bosses and mechanics scaled wonky, but I’m starting to wonder if the people talking about scaling in general just didn’t loot while leveling and didn’t get any cloak upgrades…
I don’t think he’s jumping to conclusions, blizzard openly admitted some bosses were dojng double damage (at Least.). Perhaps you did an “unbugged dungeon?”
I healed a few this morning on my 60-62 priest. Some mechanics were near one-shots, but nothing felt particularly “broken.”
Well…there was a guardian druid who would randomly drop aggro every couple of pulls. But I’m not convinced he wasn’t using something that cleared threat (with or without knowing it).
I think they scale for levels, so being level 40 vs level 20 isn’t necessarily going to help. Obviously you have more tinker slots, but I’ve seen lower levels performing perfectly fine.
Heroic dungeons back in the day were rough and you had to do mechanics or you would die. As someone who played them back in MoP, I’d say they feel about the same for someone who has level appropriate gear and not a bunch of beyond max level items.
The only one that really gave us problems was Rattlegore because people would get one shot if they didn’t get the protection from bone spells and people kept not doing that. Jandice was rough with some of the AoE damage going out, but it was doable. The other heroic dungeons I’ve done weren’t as bad as Scholomance.
You don’t really need specific gems to be successful in them. Some do help for sure, but as long as you can do mechanics, they are doable.
Also, how are they supposed to sim however many combinations of tinker gems there are and figure out if you had ones good enough? Especially when that would vary by spec and class. I’m not sure how you would expect that to work.
In the exact same way that community tools already do. AskMrRobot, Raidbots, etc. Except with Blizz’s resources they could do it even better. I shouldn’t have to pay for an external tool to tell me what gear/gem is better.
Just tried Siege of Niuzao Temple and it was a sh1t show. Everyone was 70 and gemmed up nicely. I’m level 45. The first boss was fine, but the second, was literally chunking everyone down in seconds even when avoiding his thousand blades attack. The scaling is ridiculous an broken.
I’ve noticed the main issue is people are treating them like time walking dungeons and assuming they can pull a bunch of trash all at once. No one bothers with CC
