Tossed a bunch of 560+ gear on AH to be sold. All actually pretty cheap. Sounds like there is a solution to the problem right there if it was that big of a deal in the 1st place.
Lets not forget the renown vendors that practically give away 3 peace’s of 580 gear
Why do people keep trying to bring this point up? It makes literally zero sense. You have to get your rep up in order to even buy these pieces. I’m stuck at renown 6 and you have to be 7 or higher to even get this gear. This point is null. It’s not free. Again I’ll illustrate my point because apparently people can’t wrap their head around a very simple idea. We should be able to do normal dungeons to get into heroic dungeons. It has been a thing for as long as I’ve been playing the game. Understand the points that are being brought to your attention before you try and say something that literally makes zero sense.
You.can upgrade then normal gear using valor stones, that’s the intended route. Followed by using renown gear and word quest gear too.
It is not possible to get enough valor stones to upgrade this gear. I’ve already tried. Even if this is true it’ll take weeks to farm the valor stones. This is not a viable option. It’s bad game play. Not a valid argument.
Some added points here. The WQ I have only give 564 gear. Only two or three quests per day. I can not do enough world quests to even get enough gear to get into heroics. Next. You shouldn’t even be using valor stones on normal dungeon gear. It’s pointless to use valor stones on gear you plan to replace. You shouldn’t be using valor stones to upgrade gear unless you plan on keeping them.
Next point. Renown gear. You have to get Renown 7 or higher to even get this gear. I’m stuck at renown 6 with no more renown to get. This point is null too.
Why can’t people just understand the problem that’s going on here without putting in their advice that leads to nowhere?
Maybe you should adapt your play style so you can get what you need then just playing dungeon hero style. The few hours spent doing that will give you everything you need to succeed. WoW always changes at times which means players style of play needs to adapt to the newer plans of attack to accomplish some things.
Don’t expect them to change it back to the old way just because you are being stubborn.

Her toon is already 571 ilvl and cleared the 1st wing of LFR, their whole story of being stuck in normal dungeons and not able to even do heroic is total bull 
No, you cannot upgrade anything that drops in a normal dungeon.
I mean I had no issues personally when it came to gearing from normal to heroic m, so IDK what to say other than you can buy crafted gear that should work as well
