Go kill world rares. They are easily soloable and scale with your ilvl.
They drop explorer and adventurer gear.
Also world quests.
Also Delves.
Also crafted gear.
Also buying off AH.
And renown vendors sell vet pieces very early.
There are tons of options, you just don’t personally want to use them.
I really want to know what prices y’all are looking at on the AH.
Sure, most gear is pretty cheap. But there’s pain points.
JC gear (neck/rings) averages between 5-15k apiece for 564s. You have to settle for 558 or 561 to see a price dropoff. And then of course you have to grind the stones to upgrade them further.
Darkmoon trinkets have been selling for very rarely less than 10-20k.
Even regular trinks are 15-30k. I’m looking at them right now.
BOEs that are higher ilvl are going for anywhere from 20k to the typically insane raid BoE prices of six digits.
And of course crafting higher gear is stupid expensive this early in the xpac.
Your average player doesn’t sit on hundreds of thousands of gold just to TEMPORARILY gear a few alts…not even counting consumables/enchants (which are also stupid expensive).
Can it be done? Sure. No one said it’s impossible. But to actually think it’s okay to make players spend ~50k gold, plus a bunch of extra grinding/time, just to step foot in heroic dungeon finder on one toon, is insane.
(Oh, and by the way, there’s a bug currently where some people can’t equip two 564 crafted rings, even if they’re literally different rings. Or maybe that’s an intended change too, idfk anymore.)
You guys are literally defending P2P at this point, and that’s even more hilarious because it’s not even consequential/endgame content.

delves are such engaging content they have to continually force and heavily incentivize us to do them

My guild had hopped on alts to do a heroic run. One of us queued up (because there were only 4 of us doing it) and it dropped us into a normal because my character didn’t have a high enough ilvl.
No one checked, because the possibility didn’t even cross our minds. We didn’t even realize we were in normal until we noticed the 5th person they gave us was only level 71.
And we didn’t understand why we were in normal until we finished the dungeon (didn’t feel like ditching the 5th, so we just smashed through it), tried to requeue, and oops - my character that had done heroics couldn’t do heroics anymore. So it was my fault we ended up in normal, not a mistake from my guildmate.
Felt bad, honestly.
Can I spend a bunch of gold to get into heroics on my alt again? Probably. It shouldn’t be a necessity, though. There should be a better way. Dungeon progression shouldn’t have gaps like this, and access to heroics shouldn’t be taken away like that.

still feel like its a bug, they didn’t change the difficulty, so why change the ilvl to queue
I think you need to buy AH gear and upgrade them with stones + do delves and world quests. Or buy runs into m0.
Yeah prob not a bug, but an oversight. With none of the devs playing the game and no clarification if it’s intended, that’s the only thing it can be lmfao
This brings up another question though. Since Heroic dungeon ilevel requirement is 567 and LFR is 567 then why even bother with heroic dungeons? Not to say LFR should be the way to progress but if you can get higher ilevel in LFR then why even bother with heroic dungeons? And since you can get higher ilevel from LFR and doing weekly quests then wouldn’t this ruin the whole point of even having heroic dungeon as a difficulty?
Hit 80 on my warrior two days ago, and within a few hours I was 585 ilevel. Was way easier than the first character i leveled and didn’t know how to optimize my gearing correctly.
Blizzard wants you to actually play the rest of the content they made for ya’ll instead of spamming normal dungeons.
That’s all.
that is a great point. this expansion definitely feels like very few of the devs are playing it. how else could something like this have happened?
ah yes. forced progression through a game mode you don’t like to get to a game mode you do like, incredible game design.

They specifically don’t want you grinding dungeons for gear to the exclusion of everything else. If you did all the world content like you’re supposed to you should have, or be close to having two easy epics off reputations.
You can always ring up crafters, or buy gear off the AH. World quests give gear too. World PVP, ranked PVP and normie PVP all give gear that can upgrade to 480, minimum.
The number of people just saying to just go buy gear off AH do WQs is insane LOL. Out of all the WQs only 2 or maybe 3 give gear and its NEVER an upgrade anyway. So we are stuck with grinding delves or to spend gold on gear that will get replaced instantly. Why are so many of you defending this?

You are now expected to be required to engage with delves, crafting, and AH sifting to be able to access heroics.
Because Blizz likes metrics.
In other words they are bumping their metrics so that when the content gets panned they can say “people love it! look how many we funneled into it! a bajillion delves run every day for a bajillion cloaks and rings!”

World Quests are a thing. Stop being lazy and do some world content.
Spend some crests, go do world quests, grind some rep for vet gear…have the progression for your character lol. Lots of these world quests and ascendant quests drop purple gear…go do them.
Edit: i got 2 purple trinks from the lamplighter areas 2 days ago.
You do know you can use crests and valorstones to upgrade gear to get into heroics…right?
I personally dont have time to do heroic dungeons but my ilvl is 573 and thats just from upgrading my gear.
Ugh. lamplight… I am trying to get that lynx mount. lol
Correct. I don’t really want to do any of those. Leave it to Blizzard to mess up the most basic gear progression path possible.
This game was best when progression was logical.
Regular Dungeons drop gear to allow Heroics, Heroics drop gear to allow Mythics.
Go to Random BGs to get gear for rated content.
It was so intuitive.
