I hope for you and your friends’ sake they do end up providing free character transfers a month or two down the line if things don’t improve.
It just gets harder and harder to jump ship the more time you invest into the character, and without server transfers I think a lot of small communities will break as people just quit instead of rerolling.
Naw, they’re committed to Faerlina. They all realize their swarms of followers will die off after a few weeks, and it will just be them and the core community.
Got me there, I was unaware of that. Still though, it may boil down to having a preferably named toon you cannot play, to one w/o your first choice that you can. Again though, I’m on the outside of this so I admit I cannot totally relate, only that I would prefer the playing to the waiting.
You know, we almost chose Whitemane, and a lot of us wish we had, but what’s done is done, and Blizzard has offered no consolation and no real option. If we leave, we lose, and that’s just not something my folks are prepared to do…and I cannot fault them for it.
We’ll see how everyone feels after we’ve had to play temp toons on other servers for three days. Until then, we’re staying put.
I’m just saying that we know these things for certain, based on the blue post today:
Many players, maybe not yourself, would be better suited to take action with their groups now than trying to coordinate a move after some people have already put time into their characters. It becomes a LOT harder to do at that point.
This doesn’t work because many people will apply it to other players. It is always easier to say that the other person needs to go and me stay because I have done more.
Many people followed forum-driven hysteria and convinced themselves that rolling Herod was the only way to play the game. Faerlina and Thalnos were supposedly going to be hellholes due to streamers and a few brazilian players respectively, so they went and dug a hellhole for themselves.
Which is pretty funny because now the anti streamer/SA purists are all on a boat that’s going to sink hard on launch day, while everyone else will parobably get a better experience.
This is funny, because of irony. Herod was player-designated as the “anti-streamer” server to protect players from the instability that streamers inflict. Whoops
For me, it’s just the commitment. I logged into queues with buggy character creation problems to reserve the names I wanted. I don’t want to lose those names, to be frank, and I shouldn’t be forced to because of Blizzard’s lack of foresight.
If they had started off with more than three options for EST PVP it would have been a different story.
What’s so special about it is that the LA players picked Thalnos (and all the NA players generally dislike playing with them due to the language barrier) and the big streamers (Asmongold, Staysafe, etc) all collectively picked Faerlina to unleash their cult of personality on.
That basically leaves one EST PVP server, Herod.
If we had more options at the get-go, the situation would have been mitigated to some degree, if not substantially.
Perhaps the posts threatening streamers if they played on Herod and telling South Americans they weren’t welcome on Herod so they should play on a different server and then telling LGBTQ folks to play on a different server…so yeah…it will probably end up as a toxic community as long as you let the a$$hats that think they can decide who gets to play on Herod and who doesn’t become the server leaders.
We actively tried to recruit on the server and managed to end up with somebody with an actual Waffen-SS avatar as an applicant, so that’s a great start for Herod in general.
I don’t care how cool ironically rocking a national socialist avatar is these days, that still doesn’t fly during my watch.
I literally left Emerald Dream to get away from people quoting genuinely quoting from Mien Kampf, and I certainly don’t want that kind of stuff on my classic server.
