Indeed. Each time they hesitantly squeezed a new server from the rock, players risked not getting their names, and risked guilds being destroyed.
Tuesdays you might get ~ an hour in a typical kung flu week. Predictable and able to be planned around.
Yesterday however, I booted up at around 3PM, and queue boss finally defeated around 9PM. A monumentally bad decision it was to take an already stressed environment and toss a stick of dynamite into it with the release of a new raid, and then today world dragons.
You are crying? Other servers have been dealing with this for week s now.
The only possible way to get people from one overpopulated realm to another is to transfer. Any viable solution will involve transfers, whether they’re paid or free.
Even if Blizzard opened new realms, people would have to transfer/reroll to it.
The vast majority of players on Herod knew and expected the long queues AT LAUNCH as they had warned us. The rest of the world as well as Blizzard were not prepared for an economic shutdown that would have a significant portion of the populations “working” from home or being laid off. Blizzard has the tools to temporarily fix a massive spike in population similar to that experienced during the launch of WoW classic. We are just asking for it to temporarily be turned on. Over the past 8-9 months Herod has grown as a community, especially among the Herod Discord so telling people “oh just leave” is like telling someone at a massively overcrowded party where you know and like everyone to just leave when there is a door you could open to spread people out more.
Looking at over a 5 hr que… it’s worse now then it was at release. They really need to do something to fix this **** show.
Again: every single one of the handful of servers at release were full and experienced queues. Servers that herod was welcomed to transfer to for free ultimately became just as bad if not worse than herod.
Can you lot stop with the ridiculous white knighting?
edit: If blizzard actually wanted to cut down on the bloat, they would find a way to surgically “reboot” Orgrimar and Stormwind on every server, such that all of the hundreds if not thousands of AFKers using artificial means to stay online were booted.
I agree with you 100%. Transfers should be throttled to prevent server stacking and layers should not be implemented.
Lol why should Blizzard provide you a solution for free when you’re willing to pay $25 per character for one.
