Here's why I won't enable War Mode as Alliance

Despite more experience and the class fantasy supplied via the PvP talents, I hate being ganked. I believe the ratio of horde/alliance in PvP has always been slightly in favor of horde, likely due to their inherent nature. Big brutish orc, Zug Zug, MURDER, PILLAGE, KILL. Horde has some aesthetic about being confrontational, alliance not so much. I think more people on horde are willing to enable PvP because of how they are structured and cultivated over their gaming experience.

I tried war mode early on during the start of the expansion because I knew there would be no horde in my area because of the whole separated continents thing, which I dislike. Outside of that, when I tried war mode after a few months it was just legions of horde running around ganking low-level quest hubs for easy kills, not 1v1 skill battles. It isn’t a fun experience when PvP just becomes about how fast you get globaled or camped. Not to mention the sheer survivability of some healers this expansion, it’s demoralizing.

Blizz could supply a 200% XP buff and I still wouldn’t opt into PvP. I’d rather level slower than deal with the frustrations of being zerged constantly by the opposite faction. I just don’t think people are interested in PvP while they level, or at least not some. Faster leveling doesn’t incentivize me to want to deal with it. Maybe if they slowly gave me credit towards the PvP mounts I’ll never have I might consider it haha You want to incentivize? Dangle a mount. There could also be more objectives related to open world PvP, so far the only thing I see is an airdrop.

I just don’t enjoy open world PvP fam, the only reward is death unless you count extra xp. If I want to PvP I will go do a BG, that’s kind of the point. I know why some people want open pvp around but I honestly don’t think it’s a huge portion of the player base. I think you’d see more participation if there were no BG’s because in order to PvP you’d have to do it open world.

People join the Alliance to pick herbs in peace. People join the horde to test their strength, troll levels, and savagery. Just pit the horde against themselves in BG’s and OWPvP lol  Honestly, I just don’t think it’s something that can be rewarding. You either like PvP or you don’t. There’s a large portion of alliance who don’t so there will always be an imbalance unless you fundamentally change how world pvp works.

I think leveling and open world pvp should just be separate. I don’t think it’s something people want mashed together. I honestly thought that’s what warfronts were going to be for.

I always wondered if you guys were intimidated by our size and races. Now, I know it’s true lol.

We just have +intimidation. I figured this is why we can’t ride horses too…

No interest in play world of gank fest. I have seen very little good world pvp and lots of negative which means I out, lol. I will enable it in outlands to speed up lvling since I know I will likely see no one :stuck_out_tongue:

I mainly play Horde and I won’t turn it on, same reasoning…

I don’t like being ganked.

Plus, being flagged in the open world gives me anxiety; I won’t even visit Arathi Highlands unless Horde controls it. No War Mode for me.

Pretty much my view too. I’ve spent many years on PvP servers in the past. Some masochistic impulse kept me on them, but it drove me crazy at times. I loathed getting ganked so unbelievably much.

Didn’t matter what faction I was playing, it was still the same. Going PvE was like discovering sunshine after years in the darkness. :sun_with_face: I refuse to go back!

Well I’m a rogue so of course I have it on. I can turn invisible and pick and choose my fights.

I’m plagued with the need to spontaneously afk.

Warmode would be a very, very bad idea for me.

Nothing like the safety of stealth. I felt the same when I tried on my rogue

I dont understand where people got this idea that world pvp is going to be magical “1v1 skill battles”. World pvp is all about who has more people in tje area . Sometines you are fighting someone and a member of your faction helps, sometimes a member of their faction does. You want to have a good time with world pvp than make friends , and get over the fact that no matter how many you have a bigger hroup may come along. Hell half the fun is in escalating little fights into all out zone wars.

I haven’t had a real 1v1 battle since back in the day. These days it’s me either ganging up on someone, or waiting for somebody to be alone so I can give them the prostate exam they are due.

It’s really not that bad, all you omg alliance are outnumbered and get ganked by horde. What about me having to wait 30 minutes to do 1 WQ cause there was 25 Alliance camping it? It’s both sides that do it. I get ganked all the time by a mob of Alliance and you don’t see me on the forums crying about world pvp. Just turn WM off and forget about it.

Interesting post. I’ve lvl’d from 110 - 120 with warmode on and never saw a single Alliance. I think it’s werth turning it on.

Im not “intimidated” by your size. It just happens to make me uncomfortable.

There are benefits to low pop realms for sure but I think the sharding is trying to progressively fix that issue. I was on KT with an alt leveling and I didn’t see many horde either. I guess that’s one way around it until things are more factionally tweaked.

It’s unfortunate really. The first month or so of BFA was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. Huge Alliance kill squads would be all over the place and getting a group together to take them out was a blast.

Kill them, wait for them to regroup and then try to kill us. Rinse. repeat. We’d lag my computer from the huge raid-sized battles taking place.

Alliance doesn’t lack numbers, they just don’t elect for the mode anymore.

Yeah, when they added warmode in the pre-launch event, that was sweet. Then people lost taste for it.

Remarks upon alliance, immediately uses the same point for himself and points the crying finger at alliance. Get outa here. Maybe you don’t see horde doing it because it isn’t as much of a problem for them, hence why alliance are the ones getting the war benefit buffs. Craycray. Ain’t nobody crying here but you. We’re all expressing why it won’t really work out and why we don’t enjoy it. Expression of opinion isn’t crying, and as usual that’s a typical response for horde to use who lack any thoughtful input and you’ve done well in showing that. Representin’ brudda’

Warmode is a nice gimmick, but it’s still just that… a gimmick.

On one hand it cuts down on the problem of High level players attacking and camping low level players on PvP realms, since those are now gone. Now people need to willingly enable themselves to fight others, and so that opens them up to being attacked. They know the risks. And to entice people to use the new feature, and play into the Risk/Reward, they added rewards for it.

But on the other it’s just… there. The base 10% isn’t much and only effects open world, so it doesn’t work on instanced areas like Dungeons and BGs. It’s barely noticeable and in the long run not much comes from it. Really Warmode was thrown in to keep people who Enjoy World PvP happy and count down on threads complaining about people being camped. But as we’ve found out, a good part of people who 'enjoyed WPvP", really only enjoyed attacking and camping low level characters.

But trust me, the faction Aesthetic doesn’t really play into much about the whole WM thing. Really just PvP in general tends to bring out the worst in people and they feel the need to flaunt egos, get upset, and so on.
