The vulpera, from PTR videos, looks so incredible it defies description. You can tell they put some work into it and I’m actually happy about it because that means we can use that skeleton for other races and get the same magic fluidity that went into those little vulpine demons.
Here’s the deal Blizz, give us the race we should have had forever ago. Give us The Broken. Plenty of lore. Comparable in size. It would be a look the alliance doesn’t have, It wouldn’t be an elf, and it would give us a Shaman option that isn’t insanely boring. It’s a win win. And it will completely paper over this PR disaster of you clearly favoring one faction over the other.
I don’t agree with the notion that the Vulpera/Mechagnome situation needs to be “fixed.”
That being said… I really really really really really really want to play a Broken.
However, I feel like the main reason we haven’t gotten them is because the devs think we won’t like them. Broken support tends to fizzle out pretty quickly and with very little participation, and “pretty” races tend to be vastly superior in popularity to “ugly” ones.
It’s probably also why we got Lightforged instead of Broken.
For someone who really wants to play them, you sure make the case for the opposition.
At any rate, Dreanei were a nice addition to the faction. A reskin wasn’t. Pretty races do well, but the Alliance already has plenty. Worgen would be better if their racials made them a min/max for some class.
This isn’t a case I’m making; I’m just reading the terrain. In general, pretty races do fare much better than the rougher looking ones. Why do you think Blood Elves had such a massive impact when they were introduced in the Horde back in BC?
We have to accept that fact. The question then becomes; what do we do about it?
A) Is there something we can do to the Broken models to make them more visually appealing while still retaining their unique appearance?
or
B) Does it even matter if they appeal only to a minority of players? Just release them as-is.
As someone who plays Kul Tirans and eagerly awaits the Mechagnomes, I’m actually leaning towards B. Broken should be playable, it’s just a matter of convincing devs to put resources into that project despite knowing that they’ll never be as popular as the other 2 sub-species of draenei.
I’d argue the Vulpera have the strongest racial already… They’re cute!
I’m sorry, i just can’t help but like them a lot. To be honest, i wouldn’t mind if they were neutral so everyone could have one without needed to cross faction.
actually, vulpera have a great racial. making a second hearthstone anywhere is pretty useful. mix that with the fact they can be warlocks, and alliance can be swarmed by a horde raid-party anywhere.
The hearthstone is meh. Druids have a 1 minute hearth to the dreamgrove that has portals to places even org doesnt have, and is like a whole minute away from putting you in orgs portal room. Another hearth on an hour long CD is massively underwhelming.
