Really expected more out of Flameshaper, not going to lie.
A few cool ideas, but overall way more boring than SC.
Though it does raise a few good questions:
-
No mention of firestorm, which may speak to them doing something else with it.
-
Conduit of Flame giving us 10% more crit to targets above 50% makes me wonder if they’re actually changing the mastery. Would be very strange to double down on this given that they don’t seem to like the direction it’s taken.
Yeah, I was hoping there’d be more of a focus to prioritize Living Flame, Pyre, and Firestorm. Like healing for a portion of damage done from red spells. Maybe allowing multiple Firestorms to be out at once or follow you around like Starfall.
Regardless, I think Firestorm needs baseline buffs to damage, radius, cast time, w/e. The spell is really bad right now.
Scalecommander was already revealed. It’s also very good.
Number-wise, Scalecommander probably wins out still as a more cooldown-focused burst around Deep Breath (likely making Deep Breath into a 30~45 second CD after Onyx Legacy+Bombardments) and the potency of Mass-Disintegrate while Flameshaper pulls ahead with sustain as the damage from Enkindle is a permanent buff and applies to every cast of Disintegrate and Pyre instead of only applying to Disintegrate after each Empower.
While Scalecommander has the ramping 50% damage boon to Living Flame after nearly a minute of being in combat, Flameshaper will end up with more Essence through those abilities critting and it comes down to Deep Breath versus Engulf.
Neither of them really work with Firestorm unless it gets completely reworked into a DoT.
Yes I’m aware, I’m talking about tuning-wise
Agreed that it looks overall better-- has solid design for ST, cleave, funnel, and AoE.
I’m looking forward to the mass-dis/charged blast interaction the most.
Tuning-wise, it is overpowered. Scalecommander is, much to my dismay, probably going to be the meta Hero spec for Devastation as I brought up in the Feedback thread for Scalecommander and seems plenty agreed with the observation that it might make Imminent Destruction+Charged Blast interaction with Mass Disintegrate and Melt Armor might make it even burstier.
Only thing that will make Flameweaver compete is the power of Engulf because even the flat 20% boost to all spenders would have to compete with Mass Disintegrate granting 50% on ST (and WAY more on Cleave) after each empower, Deep Breath giving 20% more for 12 seconds, the 50% from Unrelenting Siege stacking even more damage on top of the 25% damage from the talent, plus the free passive damage from Bombardments.
