Here is what Blizz doesnt seem to get about "let loot be loot" and PvP Vendors

Loot System

So there is a new popular quote throwing around already from Ion “Let loot be loot” and I understand why its popular
Its a sigh of relief after a incredibly annoying expansion

With that said, if we are completely honest with ourselves, the game needs some kind of system on top of the initial drop system in order to keep players motivated to keep playing and here comes the important part
-----> IT CANNOT BE RNG BASED <-----

Shadowlands is a great time to bring back a currency based item upgrade vendor. (The same one that was introduced in MoP)
0 RNG, the more you play the stronger u get.
You decide what you want to spend it on

Its also a great time to bring back the 3 chest system in M+ again that was removed in Legion
The problem with it in Legion was never the speed run part, it was Warforging/Titanforging.
This mean you actualy fixed the wrong thing.
If items cant proc higher item levels the system is working since doing a higher level keystone will always have higher rewards
3 Chest system promotes a “play better and get more rewards” playstyle which is exactly what this game need
Speed running is also a very popular element in many games today

PvP Vendors

Yay vendors are back, Letting people have the decision on their gearing process is always good
The problem here tho is that, for it to actualy work, getting vendors back is only part 1 in a 2 part process
These vendors will be pointless if the gear possible to obtain from PvE is still better in PvP than PvP gear is
This mean the 2nd part in the process must be some kind of PvP Power stat in order to guarantee the items viability
(which is something we also had in MoP)

Or bring back the WoD scaling system.

I think their fear is that people will get what they need and stop playing the game… I mean how dumb is that? You can finally compete at an optimal level and then you’re just going to stop?

There is some true to it tho since I think being able to always have something to work towards is appealing and addictive. Its just if its based on RNG or not that is the problem

They said they will start with lowering the amount drops which is a good start

Games aren’t supposed to be addictive they are supposed to be fun and interesting.

A path to progression always felt best to me.

Tier gear, predictable loot tables, PvP vendors. These things all gave me goals and let me know what I wanted to focus on.

Armor penetration was also the most fun pvp stat yet.

Why do so many of these plans to fix loot involve funneling more gear to the thread starter?

There needs to be gear progression for more than just elite players.

For some people gear is the only goal. For others it is a means to an end, the end being playing better. Should we ignore one group and design the entire game around the other? Right now all resources seem to be going into making more mandatory busywork for people who like to unsub when they get their bis gear, while people who for whom the game starts when they get their gear are at best an afterthought, at worst collateral damage.

Keep in mind that the “PvP vendor” will only be usable by a small percentage of pvpers, since gear can only be bought with conquest earned doing rated PvP.

And Blizzard’s solution to the loot problem is to remove corruption/titanforging and have less gear drops in raids… Yeah that’s totally incentive for me to want to run a raid, for a chance at less loot. Now I can kill something 10 times instead of 5 times for that piece I need.

Wha? I honestly don’t get their thought process sometimes.

Oh wait, they’re just trying to make us waste more time. Are they even hiding that fact from us anymore? lol

I think it’s reasonable to assume that less loot will be dropping from all sources.

The problem with “let loot be loot” is that the entire loot distribution system, whatever it may resemble, must be designed by the same people who brought us what is in BfA right now. Are they capable?

Shouldn’t that be content? Like I completely understand how important gearing is, but at what point is good enough good enough?

If you have BIS for every item, shouldn’t that have taken you months of time to complete? why do you need to have a better version of the best in slot?

If we are being PERFECTLY honest, i think a very large majority of folks would rather have meaningful content above and beyond just a Loot carousel.

I think engaging stories, compelling faction grinds, and other non-loot should be the reason you come back and keep playing wow, not just another +15 agility on the same dagger i’ve had 13 lesser iterations of, that I will just transmog into something i would rather look at anyway.

gear isn’t content. it’s a means to an end.

Because for a potential majority of its existence, wow was not just a smash and grab loot system.

Iterating the same drop over and over for better stats, is mindnumbingly boring and not enjoyable to me.

I think a shift away from that is welcomed. Maybe you have to run a raid 7 times rather than 5 times. But if they spend more time creating enjoyable raids, and you spend it raiding with people you like, is that a value trade off you would make?

If you are a loot centric person, then hey more power to you and im happy you like that. I just think a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game should have far more Massive Role playing element. Loot is just a part of, not the whole of it.

Is everyone ignoring the massive change in Proffessions?

Well PvP gear should have it’s own identity. but not overpower pve stuff. I remember a monk successfully tanking Malkorok. In full PvP stuff. In our weekly Sunday Heroic pug. and visa versa on pve things in a BG or whatnot. I really appreciated the gear upgrade 4 ilevels and the filler Valor stuff till something better dropped. And reforging… it mitigated some not so perfect pieces.

what’s the change in professions? link?

Probably.

Have they de-coupled profession materials from restrictive content like raiding and mythic dungeons?

i dropped tailoring and enchanting on this guy and picked up herb and alch because there was literally no reason for me to keep it as a casual. would be nice if professions would be useful for everyone.
