Here, ED or MG for Horde RP?

New RPer here! Apologies if this the wrong place but I am wanting to know which server is the more populated for Horde RP! Please and thank you!

Whichever you prefer.

These servers have radically different populations, communities, and atmospheres.

MG has more collectivized community. WrA has a community that prefers when everyone can have their personal space. ED’s roleplay population died and moved to both of these servers.

It’s not condusive to say which is better for a faction because its personal opinion every day of the week.

In terms of sheer numbers you’re looking at WRA as being the best for Horde RP. But as Buliss said, that’s not the whole story

The general consensus is that WRA - Horde, MG - Alliance. ED has devolved into just another pve server. I think most people anchor onto these two severs for rp anyway,

WRA.

MGs community is just alliance players, they also dont have a duskwood hub

WRA RP is so good we can even stop by Duskwood for an additional hub

waits patiently for the ghost

MG has more Alliance rpers, but they also have the dreaded Pornshire.

WRA it is then. Thanks all.

I am summoned! Come to Duskwood we have dusk and wood! And friends from both the Alliance amd Horde. Duskwood for the ultimate neutral hub! Reject Stormwind and Orgrimmar and come live with me in the woods like a crazy hermit.

I would advise against choosing Emerald Dream.

You will be fine with both MG and WRA!

I guess you missed Dance of the Dead, MG Horde is alive and thriving!

VA’s for Arthas/Garrosh and Sylvanas were there.

Yes, its going to have a big turn out.

I stuck around -after- they left. The people who also stayed rping were mostly alliance

Hello,

I’m a veteran of the MG Horde community as far back as 2011. I’ve been playing since van. I recently organized and just hosted an annual rp event called Dance Of The Dead, which over many years has attracted thousands of players across many servers.

I speak mostly from the MG Horde perspective, but also have thoughts on long-term happiness as to which server you go to. It is true that MG Horde is a smaller community, but it is extremely active and focused on stories, content creation and more.

In my opinion, the key to a happy rp experience is finding a like-minded community of individuals you click and engage with. For that, I recommend looking at rp guild options and considering a rp guild as the point of contact for where and which server you may consider joining. Furthermore, the rp guild should be active.

So check the server forums for an active guild on each of the servers that meets your interests, check out their discord, talk to people, and get a feel. Then decide. Each of the servers offer good rp options, it really boils down to which of those options are best for -you- and your interests.

Here is a screenshot from the Lordaeron Memorial March hosted Oct 18th, 2022 - the attendance is overwhelmingly Horde.

Names in blue are Horde, names in Orange are Alliance.

Dance Of The Dead 2022 opening ceremony (not everyone is in this screenshot). Names in Orange are Alliance, and names in blue are Horde. WRA, Ed, and MG servers mixed into the event. At the Caer Darrow at the peak of the event, we had around 6 active raids of rpers going from both factions, and all servers.

Best of luck out there! There are many great options on different servers.

PS - Shout out to the WRA guild Royal Apothecary Society for the amazing support and help with Dance Of The Dead <3

Keep in mind that this is a harmful consensus and one WrA is actively trying to fight against. WrA alliance has been attempting and suceeding at coming back and has had an incredibly active and vibrant community. Choose MG if the culture seems right for you, NOT because you think it’s your only option as an Alliance player. Once again, MG Alliance is not the only viable option for Alliance RP!

Totally agree with Raseri.

I been on MG for a few months now because my WRA friends are here. For the most part it’s been fine, I don’t really do walk up RP anymore so SW being active or not doesn’t really affect me since I only RP at guild events. Yet there are things I miss about WRA that MG doesn’t have. (mostly just the Mead Hall)

Yup. The same also goes for MG Horde.

Calling any community dead, ignoring the fact it is not, is harmful to them. Pointlessly so.

I’ll add in that MG Horde and Banshih were incredibly welcoming and accommodating when I was looking at starting a guild over on MG Horde. I cannot say enough good things about the Coalition and the community they built. WRA Horde is great, but I’d encourage you to check out MG Horde too and see which feels like a better fit for you.

Just a reminder to check out if the server you’re eyeing to transfer to is around your time zone!

People casually RP all the time but, in my opinion, events are great fun and worth attending even if they can seem intimidating.

My suggestion is to make a character on each server and see which one you like better. Peruse the guilds, listen to trade chat, read TRPs and see what you think.

And that, my friends, is where all my plans began to come undone.

Aussie RP server when? :sob:

Honestly, the Oceanic servers I play on are so toxic, I don’t think I’d join an Oceanic RP server at this point.

To the OP: Both. Play on both. You can’t go wrong testing the waters and having both options!

Biased because I play on both <3

Go where ever you wish… or go to both! You will find RP on both MG and WRA. Many people have already said, but they are two different atmospheres. I’ve have someone experience on having both RPed on both servers and got to see them as outsider looking in.

It all really depends on just what ever you end up picking. They are both great communities, no matter what people might say to deter you. A group should never be defined by the few who act loudly and obnoxiously.

A lot of big events are also shared between servers. The big events that have been put on with MG see people from both servers and vice versa! And if you make friends on one server, you can also see about someone anchoring you over to RP on the other realm.

Although - I will 100% recommend you get CrossRP. It is an add on that everyone keeps thinking is dead but still has a use. It will let you see Alliance TRPs if they also have CrossRP. AND it also lets you see cross realm TRPs, because for some reason TRP3 won’t let you see MG profiles. But CrossRP seems to let you (but it can be wonky).

Go WRA, go MG, you will find friends and people to hang out with regardless. So long as you are respectful to RP spaces, to people and most of all yourself by keeping yourself safe - it should be okay! I hope you find your home !
