Herbs and alchemy on ptr

Running around on a very quiet server with most in dungeons then I am able to gather a lot of herbs and test alchemy.

Some feedback…

i) even on an empty server there are not enough herb spawns - but being a solo gatherer without bots on the ptr I can get a lot of herbs over time. With mega servers this will be a nightmare.
ii) there was a lot of feedback in classic tbc about the number of crafts you needed to do in order to make discoveries. People reported doing over 2000 and only getting 1 discovery. This need to do surplus crafting for discoveries makes the demand for herbs much greater. While I could I thought I’d test discoveries - so far from a few hundred crafts none. Will attempt to report back after a few thousand if I have time.
iii) I can totally predict this being a drama after launch. I’m not sure if the extra terocone spawns have been implemented but it doesn’t seem that noticeable. My guess is the population per layer on the megaservers is close to six times the population on previous servers - thus if we are staying with the same server design you need six times the number of herb spawns or six times the respawn rate.

Really hope all herbs and mines spawn much more quickly than original. Farming in classic anniversary has been wildly disappointing. I’m sure blizzard has the metrics on server populations and can do some quick maths to fix this.

dont forget there will be prolly like 4-6 layers if not more at launch.

There are layers that scale to player count. Yes, you will have competition for herbing and mining. This is an MMO not a single player game.

You are not guaranteed gold income by logging in. You have to figure out ways to make gold.

If mining or herbing are too contested do something else.

I don’t see how you can have possibly tested the number of spawns properly in the PTR with the low population it has so I don’t see how you can have an informed opinion on whether the spawn rates are too high or too low.

You’re right - an empty server is not an adequate test. However, I can tell the number of spawns and I can get an idea of the respawn rate to make some estimate of how it will be.

I highly doubt that.
