Herbalism...A solution to profit?

I like farming mats in wow, just flying routes listening to the amazing soundtracks and fighting off the odd Ally player for a plant. But the depression soon sets in when nearly every herbalism/alchemy product sells for a negative, rendering it a waste of time…unless you have another stream of farming gold. Personally, as a casual player juggling family and work time, I make just enough to cover repairs and the odd haircut farming PVP.

Something I have noticed though, the basic phial sold by the valdrakken vendor is 5g. Why?

When top quality healing potions sell for 4g50s on my server, whats the point in farming? How am I supposed to pay for enchants etc

So blizz, why not change the vendors price to 1g? It’s not like this vendor has an actual family to support, and this would give us herbalist/alchemists a chance to make some Gold. Just a thought…if anyone else has a decent way of making money from herbalism/alchemy I’m all ears!

best way for herbalism/alchemy is start early in the expansion
the health pots still sells well
and the lvl 3 herbs are still good but not that great when the expansion was released

The level 3 healing potions sell on my server at neg 50s

The only profitable items are caldrens from what I can see

neg 50s is still better then neg 2g
and the Cauldron are Boa so they can not be sold

isn’t dracothyst viable?

The reason prices are so low is because people can make it for even cheaper and turn a profit.

If you have a steady supply of glowspores.
Although back from the 20+k per dracothyst at the start of S2, what they go for now is probably not worth the hassle, unless as I said, you have plenty of glowspores for the transmutes.

Fully leveled and with the best gear you can make guaranteed rank 3 glacial fury flasks using illustrious insights and rank 3 mats including rank 3 bottles. The margins and trading volume aren’t great now, but when you take into account multi crafts and mat savings you can make a profit buying the mats and selling the flasks.

Same thing with Dracothyst, but even that’s drying up now. The big profit is in the mutlicrafts and getting mats back.

Blizzards little idea of locking all the AH together with all the US realms killed making profit off herbing and mining…you can thank Blizzard for this now…not the bots or players but Blizzard.

You get 5 pots out of that 5g so techically it is 1g per pots.

But you can proc multiple. So if 1 sells at a negative, but you proc 10, profit

If you enjoy the gathering, just sell the mats and let the manufacturing be someone else’s problem?

You’d have to really love herbing considering the measly profit. You can make more gold per hour just doing the dragon race world quests.

Yep and if you have a leveled up army of alts …it makes nice amounts of gold a week…avg amount of gold in a race purse is about 515 per purse…

if you want to get a good profit on the race WQ you will need 20 alts to make 120k gold a week.
and most of the time it takes is around 10-20 mins to finish all 6 depending on how fare you need to travel

And there are some players with that amount or even more at max level…I use to run about 14 max levels from WoD and on till Shadowlands …not so many this exp cause of burn out for me…plus my health hasn’t been the best last year…I get tried out really fast now…I use to be able to play 18+ hrs in game but no more…

i am running about 10 alts so far and yes it does get boring doing it over and over but easy
60kgold a week is nothing to scoff at though working on 2 more alts lol

Nope its not…easy gold …all though for some reason I took a couple weeks off to go play new game called Palia …its quite good game…and coming back to WoW…these dang races are giving me issues now…seems I am a bit out of sic with the races …having issue doing them …its like I never done them before all of sudden…not sure if cause I haven’t done them for a few weeks or my body is reacting to them badly.

thanks for posting this. i am the same way. i really enjoy listening to a good album and just flying a few farming routes for profit.

ive found monelite to be steady and lucrative at lows of 6 gold and highs of 12gold consistently every time i check the past 8 months or more.
storm silver is just as consistent.
oddly enough the rarest ore in bfa (platinum) is the most plentyful on the auction house selling at a high of 2 gold and lows of 33silver per thousand.

i really wanted to start an in-game community for this kind of gatherers chat, to keep each other in the loop of whats selling, whats not, whats worth the time exct. another good reason why i come to the forms, more community engagement and easier access for most people.

It’s moreso the drop in demand and the supply out pacing it, no one’s really upgrading things right now.

Along with their being sold at a razor thin margins currently, probably a consequence of bot farmers running around unchecked. I guarantee a lot of the AH botters also have gathering bots to supply their AH bots with items to sell. To be blunt a lot things are being sold at razor thin margins currently, the only thing you can profit form effectively currently is making the BoA items through the order system.

Other wise as per usual all the botters, and RMTer’s have crashed the economy until it gets soft reset in the upcoming major patch.
