Help with questing? Feels like I’m slow. Advice?

I’m new to WOW and it feels like I’m so slow questing. Like my level 60 friend made fun of me saying “Still level 16?” How do I quest faster any tips? Thanks

Hard to say, since we don’t really know what you’re doing. Classic wow is a pretty long journey from 1-60, especially for a new player learning as you go. Look up some leveling guides online to help you with what zones to go to. Just get most of the quests in each new zone you go to, especially kill/collect quests, and grind mobs…a lot of mobs. Good luck on your adventure, most importantly try to have fun along the way.

The reality is that in Classic WoW, leveling is a VERY large portion of your initial time with the game, so much so that each level is supposed to (and likely will) take 2-4 hours per level as you get closer and closer to 60.

That’s not to say you can’t go faster, which is why most people boost their second or third alts in dungeons for gold, but as a new player, you should expect to take 7-10 days of play time to hit 60. If that feels too extreme, you can always have your friend help to make it a tad faster. Just know the experience will feel odd if you’re rushed to 60 without knowing all the things leveling would have taught you along the way.

Don’t rush it, enjoy it!

End game is raid logging.

Do you have the add on Questie? It really helps. Shows you where to go and what to do, and helps you find hidden quests. Helps you optimize your time.

There are several different guides available. Obviously, experience is incredibly helpful, but some tips are:

  • use an addon, such as Questie: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/questie
  • Follow a guide, such as those available on WoWHead: https://classic.wowhead.com/guides/classic-wow-leveling
  • Find a friend who knows the quests well, and level with them

Yeah, if it’s your first time playing through don’t rush it. Leveling 1-60 is a huge adventure, so treat it as one! Once you’ve done it on each faction then it can seem more like a chore you want to rush through but don’t let the first time classic leveling experience be lost on you because you’re starting late and want to catch up!

Combine your questing with grinding mobs.

It that rogue is your main, then keep the mobs you kill 1 to 2 levels below your level.

Also consider picking up the combat talents first.

Improved sinister strike
Precision 5/5
Improved gouge can actually be a life saver because you can gouge and then quickly bandage.

Always keep bandaging improving.
Level cooking to at least 80 for tea, and further for other stuff.

If you elect to go daggers for leveling it can be good, just gotta spec into improved backstab and a few other key talents.

Good luck

If you choose to play daggers then

dont rush it or the 40s will be painful. also since you’re a blood elf, you’re probably in the wrong forums.

I mean, I think this is decent advice, but at the same time, in my personal experience, I definitely rushed through my first max levels…

I took my time later, and enjoyed that. I don’t think that was a bad approach either.

My point is simply that you can enjoy taking your time experiencing Classic leveling, at any time, especially if you happen to do so on a class that had a decent solo leveling experience.

Of course, YMMV, but I think rushing through leveling on a warrior and taking your time on a hunter, for example, can be a decent way to go.

I took my time with this mage, and spent some time learning some mage AoE grinds. Now that I’ve learned them, I could rush through my next mage, if I decided to roll another mage.

Questie addon
Pick up as many quests as you can at once
Empty bags in town
Work through as many quests as you can before returning to town

The largest time sink is travelling so try to minimize it

You are so lucky to be experiencing leveling in Classic for the first time. Don’t listen to others who will try to rush you into getting it over with. My advice is to take your time, do the quests and explore the zones, put together groups to run all the dungeons, and enjoy it. The leveling in Classic is really well done.

Get new friends.

There is no reason to expect new people to wow to be good at leveling right away. There are guides. But a lot of what people learned is from experience and a sort of intuition builds over time.

Some small examples.

  1. When to spirit res
  2. How to use your hearth effectively
  3. Ignoring Quests that aren’t worth their time.
  4. Knowing what quests are in front of you and how to optimize travel time.

There is many more, people take it for granted though because they forget what they’ve learned, and think it’s all immediately obvious.

As others have said, just take your time. You can worry about speeding to max level on you second character. Trying to go too fast will just burn you out IMO.

If your friend wants you to level faster ask them to do it for you.

Thanks for the tips everyone I appreciate it. I’m going to take my time with it  I’m not going to use any add ons I think that kind of ruins the adventure. Thanks everyone!
