Been trying to down this creeper for a while in PuGs (Good ones, even!), and in the 4 good groups, we all knew the fight and did about as much dps as we did on the other bosses, but we just kept wiping the floor with our blood. No wipes due to the eye, thank goodness. But there is a lot in this fight! The MCs, the bloods, the floor guns, the spacing for cursed blood, and maybe some other things that I can’t remember. I imagine that the healers are so overwhelmed!
So I am asking for any and all tips for this boss. I read two guides and watched three videos, but I’m not seeing the disconnect. Is this boss actually 40% harder than Shad’Har and Drest’Agath like someone in a group said?
Unrelated, will Blizz ever nerf Il’Gynoth? That would be great too. My closest attempt was in the last stage, where the boss had about 2m health left, so I believe that it is possible (and it definitely is possible for others, I see some people who’ve done it on MYTHIC and that throws me for a loop).
The things I’ve learned so far (please correct me if they’re wrong and they’re actually wiping my group):
- Run the floor guns in circles, and turtle if you can
- Stun and trap the MCd people
- Hero on last phase but still work with mechanics primarily
- Everyone without cursed blood stacks on the organs
- Don’t be in the same 45-degree slice as the tanks
- Get MCd ppl to 30% health as fast as possible
Some general questions that I have:
- How do you handle the bloods? Is it fine to have them get ya if you can have a healer dispell it?
- Where should you use your powerful cooldown stuff (trueshot, whatnot)?
I’ve wiped on this guy about 25 times. Please help!!!
something that we found that worked, when you are on the last eyeball, have dps focus on clearing up the bloods first, once the bloods are under control then start switching some over to the eye. ideally you should transition to final phase with only 1 or 2 bloods up, so that way you can lust and burn the boss.

Kite the adds to melee so they can be cleaved.
Healers need to be on top of dispelling the blood debuff they put on you.
And hopefully your melee are not completely wrecking any positioning by dragging the beam all around the boss

We just stack the melee up in a ball and who ever get a blood tracking them moves so that the blood will be dragged thru the melee group, where we will just cleave it down. Then after each organ phase, the melee reform into a ball and you continue to kite them into the ball of death. Honestly, they aren’t really an issues unless you get some bad charms and things get disorganized and start falling apart.

he’s harder in that mechanical failures are more dangerous.
some advice:
- don’t have too much melee
- make sure everyone spreads out before the MC’s go out
- don’t stand too close to black stuff on the ground before MC’s
- you can slow/snare MC’ed people.
- make sure the raid is dropping the black stuff as compact as possible. if you have warlocks, set up lock gates going through the boss for melee - if they get targeted with it, they can gate through the boss causing the beam to drop the black stuff under the boss where no one is. Ranged can be back by the walls. if someone in the middle gets it, don’t spread it out in a straight line, keep it tightly grouped in a small area.
- control the bloods. even when you are on the last organ, or after, control the bloods.
- bloods can/should be kited through/near melee. If that one guy (you know, the one who is in every raid) is out trying to solo his blood add in east timbuktu, yell at him.

This is what we do. All the melee stack together just off to the left of out starting tanks and we slowly circle around as the beam pools. Then just before charm we break apart and reform once charm is over.
