I got utterly wrecked by a +6 The Coagulation today. I mean, WRECKED. I’ve never had problems healing any boss until this guy. It was just so. much. damage. Tips, critiques?
Everyone has to pop big personals when the boss hits 100 energy; holy priests are also pretty bad at healing this mechanic even if they pop every single cd they have due to their single-target centric healing profile and lack of instant casts.
Have fun when you try to do this boss on +9 and above as holy.
I found screaming at the top of my lungs did absolutely nothing for my HPS but it made me feel better when I died.
Healing some fights as Holy is suffering.
Do you have a link to the logs for the run?
That would help a lot with providing advice or critique.
Or even a vod of some kind.
I don’t, nor a vod. It may have been that the group was not popping defensives then. I’m not too worried about my rotation, more my spec, gear level, etc.
Glad to know it’s not just me lol. I just feel like we don’t have an answer in our spellbook for extreme aoe.
Also keep in mind, people NEED to be using heal potions if there is no lock.
If you’re Archon, save Halo for it, have your PoMs out and use both charges of Sanc.
If you’re Oracle, save piety for it, hit piety, GS yourself and spam single target healing into yourself.
Great advice, thanks! I decided to also spec out of PoM side, and into the circle of healing/ AOE side. When you get the salvation and circle of healing buff, prayer of healing isn’t bad for a few casts.
The slime boss in City of Threads is like Hyrja from Halls of Valor. It’s an entire group effort to survive because the healer cannot just raw heal through the pulsing AOE damage. You have to pop defensives, AMZs, group barriers, etc. to survive.
To prepare for the boss damage you have to watch their energy bar because they start pulsing AOE damage once they hit 100% energy.
Now, the biggest killer during that AOE phase is people inadvertently standing in the puddles on the ground while the AOE damage is going out. The entire group needs to move to a clean spot in the room before the AOE damage goes out. If you stand in the puddle its about 1.5-2 mil every 2s on-top of the pulsing AOE damage and you’re 100% going to die.
As Holy the best way to counter the AOE damage is to drop Divine Word Sanctify on the group and use Halo or Premonition of Piety. You should GS yourself just as a safe measure so you only need to worry about funneling heals into the 3 dps. If you have Divine Hymn you can pre-Divine Hymn just before the AOE goes out to get the +20% healing bonus.
You only have to deal with the AOE phase ideally 2 times during the fight and the AOE phase is spread out over a minute apart.
So yeah: it’s a group effort to survive the boss. The healer cannot just faceroll it.
