Help with everything

So I’m about a week into the game, lvl 70 warrior. I was under the assumption after level 70 I would be granted world quests. Did not happen. I also have ZERO idea how to upgrade item level. Or what that even means really. (The game could not be less intuitive) I also finished Dragonflight (I assume) because there are no pending quests like there usually was, however upon making a new character I find out it is not complete. I don’t know how to even find this information out as the UI is so dated and unintelligible

world quests will open up once you’re level 80 and finish the main story.

I cannot get to level 80 as 70 is the max?

level 80 is the max. you need to buy The War Within expansion to reach max level. until then you are capped at 70, but you get all other expansions for free with your subscription.

Dragonflight world quests are unlocked the same way tho iirc. complete your main story quests and you should unlock them at the end.

bro what is a main story quest? This is the problem, people have a way of explaining things without explaining anything

Should be the same storyline you started in Waking Shores. If this is your first character to level in DF you don’t have adventure mode so you should be on the MSQ. It starts in Waking Shores and ends in Thaldraszus.

the one you took that brought you to the dragon isles in the first place. they’re identifiable by having a sort of shield-like icon around the !.

it should appear on your map if you lost it.

every rpg ever has “main quests” and “side quests”. you need to do your “main quests” to unlock your endgame stuff. like world quests.

as for the rest of the stuff in your op,

your item level is just a number to tell you how good (or not good) your gear is, it really doesn’t matter under max level.

main story quests will show up on your map like i mentioned above. it should also tell you in your quest log where to pick up the next quest for the main story if you don’t have a main story quest.

if you still cannot find any quests Wowhead is a fairly good source of information for finding…just about anything really. type the name of the last quest you remember doing into the search bar, and you should be able to find your next one on that site.

like what is and isn’t main story. lol

i remember trying to find stuff as a newbie in this game. wanted a Mail Muncher and couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to unlock Horrific Visions. got the visions now, but still no mount. ended up finding cooler looking ones and forgot about it.

Main story line quests are icons in the mini map that have kind of like a banner with a “!” on it, also if you open your big map they will show up on there as well. Yes starting this game is rough and trying to explain how the game works from someone who has been playing it everyday for 20 years is going to be hard as they will forget the little things that to them are common knowledge.

It is not and I do not have those

I have campaign quests and Quests. That is all

so from my understanding the campaign quests are the main line quests

Wait did you buy TWW? or did you just buy the sub?

did you just try to follow the very visible quest marks and just complete the main quest to war within ? this will level you and give you gear to continue with the game

Do you have an experience bar? You need to make sure you have the expansion. Then go to Legion Dalaran, or look in your bags for a scroll that will port you to Silithus.

Level 70 is not the level cap.

Sarro explained it to you. You’re missing the latest expansion, The War Within.
End game right now is level 80. Level 70 is just what’s included with your subscription.
Technically you’re stuck as a leveling character right now so some things wont be available / feasible for you.

The game has a map-legend built in to explain to you the different quest icons.
The shield with a ! inside are the main campaign quests.

I’m not too sure where the confusion would be. Item level is the level of your items… not to be too on the nose about it. But there is an obvious implication of power associated to it. Gear item level 400 is weaker than gear item level 420.

You upgrade gear by doing dungeons (Normal, HC, Mythic+), Raiding (LFR, Normal, HC, Mythic), Delves, and world content.

Because you’re not with the latest expansion really the only options available to you are Normal & Heroic dungeons, and world content.

You can also do PVP, although random BGs are probably the only feasible option to a level 70 at this time.

Again you are explaining things without explaining a thing. Think about this sentence for me “You upgrade gear by doing dungeons” Yes but what is the process. A single line does not describe how to item up your gear. Please take a bit more time explaining instead of sounding like a microsoft help desk answer. People love to think they are helping but they are not.

go into dungeon. kill boss. boss drops loot for people in the group.

you can use the group finder to find a dungeon group by pressing I on your keyboard, or by clicking the green eye button under your bags.

in the Dungeon Finder section you can use the “find group” button to place you in queue for a random dungeon (or you can choose a specific one in the drop down under the role icons) where you can wait for the game to find other players automatically, or you can use the “Premade Groups” section to make your own group, or join another group manually.

you had to do a dungeon before you could finish the tutorial, and leave Exile’s Reach.

since you are a warrior i would recommend playing dps instead of tank, since i assume this is your first time in a dungeon other than the tutorial one, and playing dps is a little easier than being a tank, and requires less knowledge of how the dungeon works, or where to go.

You do not need to buy the expansion to complete Dragonflight. Stop spreading misinformation

They didn’t say that, they said you needed TWW to hit max level.

that’s not at all what I said.

I said you need to buy The War Within to hit level 80, not to complete dragonflight. you can do all the quests and dungeons you want in dragonflight, but you cannot hit level 80 without The War Within, because the max level for Dragonflight is 70.

you can complete dragonflight and any other expansion before it just fine, but you will not be able to level up past 70, or go to Khaz Algar without buying The War Within,

You have explained how to enter a dungeon. Not my question. Once again, what is the process for upgrading equitment?
