Help with dk unholy rotations

Will some one please post an explanation for the rotation priorities for unholy single target and aoe fights. I’ve watched 3 or 4 videos and have an idea. But I just don’t feel like I get it and my bar set up doesn’t feel fluid. I’m hoping maybe someone else’s wording will help me piece it together. Thanks in advance

Im brand new to DK, it took a little bit to get used to but its pretty simple. What you want to do it:

  1. Keep your plague up on all targets at all times
  2. Use festering strike to add wounds to your target. You generally don’t want to use this if you already have 4 or more wounds up on your target.
  3. Burst the wounds with scourge strike
  4. While this is all happening, you want to never over cap on your runic power so you weave in a death coil (single target) or epidemic (2 or more targets).

Aside from that, you’ll want to use your many cooldowns on cooldown if possible (Unholy frenzy, dark transformation, apocalypse) since they are all around 1 minute long. Army of the dead is the only cooldown you would obviously hold onto for priority targets since its 8 minutes long.

For AoE, the same rules above apply, just keep in mind you would throw down your death and decay before bursting any wounds with scourge strike. With D&D, you can pop multiple wounds, so try to spread them around before hand- unholy frenzy will give you extra wounds with your auto attacks, and if you are talented into infected claws you can have your pet go onto a different target and try to get wounds that way.

Again, Im also new to DK so anyone feel free to correct me if I made any mistakes

Just to add to that, and maybe it’s just my personal preference. If you’re doing a raid boss I wouldn’t epidemic on strictly 2 targets it can misalign your dt. I would only use it on Hivemind when drones are out. Vex when all the adds are on boss. Carapace when the adds are all stacked. And wrathion on the shards.

1: Outbreak.
2: Festering Strike.
3: Scourge Strike.
4: Death Coil.
5: Soul Reaper.
6: Apocolypse
X: Dark Transformation.
R: Death and Decay
F: Pandemic.
W: Mindfreeze

Thats what my rotational Keybinds look like.
Very easy access to everything, and my hands dont get confused.
Move with mouse+Q and E.

Everything else i have keybound to different more difficult keys to tap and a few things i leave unbound and just have to click them.
Like Army of the dead for example. There’s no reason to key bind that.

Really nice keybinds. I’ve used W for forward for SOOOO long I’d never get used to it.
What I do is I use a Raza Naga Hex (7 buttons on the side) with each one being the “same thing” across all my toons. Int on 3 stun on 4 speed boost on 7 Big spender on 2, stuff like that.

I wouldn’t recommend unbinding w. It would make it hard to target something while moving as tab target outbreak isnt a good ideain m+. especially dungeons like mother lode, wcm, sots, junkyard, siege, etc. Overuse of an auto run keybind to crutch this sounds sketchy to me. And that’s the only way I can think of to be efficient.

You get used to it and it doesnt hinder you at all in regards to targeting or moving.
Honestly having W as a quick react ability is really nice.

But i could see it being awkward for people who have used W to move their whole lives.

Here is the simple opener for ST: Prepot/Army 3s before pull -> Outbreak ->DT -> Essence if CLF -> Unholy Frenzy -> 1-2 FS -> Essence if BotE -> Apocalypse. Use trinket on CDs.
Normal rotation should always be FS into Scourge Strike, avoid capping runic by death coil and try to always keep at least 3 runes available at all times.
For AoE, Prepot into Outbreak -> DT -> Unholy Frenzy -> 3-4 FS with Epidemic -> Soul Reaper -> DnD -> BotE/Trinket -> 5 Scourge Strike, avoid capping runic by Epidemic.
