Help with boomy dps

Hey guys. I need some advice.

I’m roughly ilvl 215, and I can’t seem to push past 3k for single target, or 4kish for multi.

I try to keep both dots on as much targets as possible as a number 1 priority.

Then starfall for aoe or starsurge for single, followed by the eclipse rotation.

I use the legendary that gives me celestial alignment for 12 sec for every 300 astral power I spend

I’m also night fae.

Please help. I love druid, but sucking at boomy is killing the buzz.

Hello there fellow chicken!

I would invite you to the Druid Discord: Google for “druid dreamgrove discord” and click the first link.

There, in the “Balance” channel, you will find lots of helpful information in the Pinned Messages. After reading those information which should get you somewhat started, and IF you still have questions, feel free to ask in the chat channel. There are a bunch of helpful people there who would be more than willing to provide advice!

This is the first issue that I see. However, the quick sim that I ran has you pushing 4.8k single target, so that leads me to believe we have a rotational issue.

First off, I will say that while boomy is not a difficult spec, it does take a little bit of learning. An important factor in this is having a good weakaura. This will help ensure that you’re not wasting astral power (AP) and to make sure you aren’t casting extra wrath or starfires while working to proc eclipses. These are seemingly minor issues, but they can have a significant impact on your dps. Personally, I use a modified version of Publick’s balance druid that is available at wago . io

When moving, make sure you cast something, even if it is just refreshing dots.

Don’t hold your cooldowns. Use them when they come up instead of just waiting for big pulls or bosses. When you get more comfortable with dungeons, you will get a better feel for when to use CA.

Convoke usage. With the AP legendary, you can usually get a convoke to line up with CA most of the time. Make sure you are tracking the AP usage so you know when it is going to come up. Use your best judgement here.

You have a couple of conduits that are less optimal choices. Precise alignment is good, but umbral intensity and stellar inspiration are not the best choices. You really want to use the convoke conduit along with fury of the skies. Again, these are minor differences of about 100 dps.

As far as actual gear, right now you want ilvl>all. You will generally want to focus haste and mastery, but at a certain point, you will need to run sims with individual pieces to maximize your potential.

***The ultimate point of all of this is to say that your playing ability and decreasing mistakes/downtime has the most significant effect on your dps. Missing a couple of starsurges because of overcapped AP will have a huge effect on your dps. Try to convoke at the beginning of an eclipse state as the 3-4 starsurges you cast will contribute to your wrath/starfire damage. Dumping AP with starsurges at the beginning of eclipse has the same effect.

I find this wording confusing; can you be more explicit about when you are using Starsurge/Starfall?

This right here is what I was looking for.

So I have never convoked while eclipsed, I will start doing that now.

Also, are u saying I should change my legendary?

You want to try and stay in Eclipse as much as you can - refresh your dots inside an eclipse (ideally in the last couple 3 seconds as that’ll be 2 GCDs). When outside an Eclipse you want to get into your next one ASAP - if you have to move feel free to use moonfire/sunfire while moving OR if you know movement is coming up, save 30 AP for a Starsurge. This also applies for when you’re inside an eclipse.

As for your legendary, stay with Primordial Arcanic Pulsar, its BIS for NF Boomkin. If you ever switch to Venthyr, you’ll want to craft the Sinful Hysteria legendary in the belt slot, its BIS for Venth Boomkin. But, its still important to time your Convoke with the AP legendary.

Also, if you aren’t already, make sure mobs have Moonfire on them so it doesn’t waste a spell when you are using Convoke The Spirits.

You’re losing damage because you are not benefiting from mastery if you convoke outside of eclipse as well. This could be rather significant as starsurge and full moon are both astral damage so they benefit from both solar and lunar eclipse.

Not necessarily. Arcanic Pulsar is used frequently with night fae boomy. I personally prefer the convoke legendary when I am night fae, but it sims lower than AP. As Mandubarra mentioned, if you ever change to venthyr, you want to use Sinful Hysteria as it is a huge dps boost for ravenous frenzy.

Starsurge is your single target AP spender. Starfall is your aoe AP spender. Use one of them before you max your AP as any AP generated beyond max goes to waste. Which one you use just depends if there’s one target (maybe also for 2 target, i forget) or a group of mobs.
