So I came back after almost 3 yrs. but My bags are full and I am trying to replace them with bigger bags and I am not able to change them I have addon Bagnon & Bag Brother and wondering if this is hindering it. Help is greatly appreciated. I have tried putting the new bag over the old bag and it will not allow me. I removed the Addon’s so the bags are open individually and still not able to swap.
To remove a bag from a bag slot it must be empty (I believe).
So you have to put the contents of the bag somewhere else (bank??), remove the bag and place it somewhere (bank??). Then put the new bag in the slot and move the contents back into the new bag.

Make sure your new bags are located in your backpack. You can’t replace bag 1 with a bag that’s located in bag 1.

I’ve emptied the bag, right clicked and it says “no equipment slot available”
Backpack is full, I have 4 Thick Hide Packs and two are empty and still not working.
Then you’ll have to swap out the items in your backpack.
Trade out? meaning sell the new bags I bought and buy new Hide packs? Now I wanted to put some old gear in the bank and that bag is full as well. I don’t know why the option to buy more bags is gone.
Just click on your new bags and swap them with items in your backpack. 
It doesn’t work.
maybe turn off your addons.
Disable all inventory addons. Let’s work with the base UI.

Put your new bags in your backpack.

Empty the old bags. Bank/vendor, whatever.

Drag the new bag icon onto your bag slots.

Tada. You have new bags.

have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?

No, it’s not. On the top of your bags, there’s a bag button. Hit that, and it’ll display your bags. Drag the new bag you wish to equip over the bags you have currently equipped. That should work fine.

To those still looking for an answer, the main bag slot can’t be changed it’s hardcoded into the game. The others however can be.

If your tryng to swap bags the bag your trying to equip can not be in the bag you swapping with. you may want to try putting the bags you want to equip in the basic bag to fix that issues.

Argh. I’m having the same problem, with the same bag (Thick Hide Pack). I’ve emptied, removed, and sold the 8-slot bag I had in that spot, and yet I can’t put the THP into any bag slot no matter what I do. :((((
OMG, never mind.
The THP binds when equipped, and I several times over didn’t notice the small confirmation dialog that appears when you go to equip a binds-when-equipped item (that’s not the first time I’ve overlooked that dialog).
When you go to equip the bag, listen for the “chock” sound that WoW makes when you do various things. If you hear that, then look around your screen for the little (tiny) alert asking you if you’re sure you want to equip the bag. Click “Accept” (I think that’s what the button says), and the bag will be equipped and you’ll never have to look at this thread again. Unless you leave the game for another long time (I did that too) and come back and forget about the confirmation dialog. eyeroll
