The burst is really good, but i have no idea how to manage sustain it feels like im constantly starved. Help please.
Our ability to sustain high damage is directly dependent on how many targets we can bleed. In a 1v1 you can burst and have x3 tea, but if the fight drags on, you gotta just get out.
In 2s it’s slow. 3’s its okay, and in BGB and RBG you can go ham with nearly limitless energy. We are the least roguey of rogues. We are team fight aces. If you want the classic idea of a rogue, that’s where Sub comes in.
Thank you very much I really really appreciate that.
I didn’t realize it was so dependent on having dots on multiple people like that.
Yup. It’s cause our main source of energy recovery is the talent Venomous Wounds: You regain 7 Energy each time your Garrote or Rupture deal Bleed damage to a poisoned target.
If an enemy dies while afflicted by your Rupture, you regain energy based on its remaining duration.
This is what makes us better the more targets we have to work with. At high enough target counts, you basically have unlimited energy.
Yeah, basically keep garrote and rupture on alll enemies, you’ll also be surprised how much damage internal bleeding does like that. Kingsbane is our only real burst, always make sure you shiv before kingsbane.
Also try to pay attention to what cds enemy has when you death mark. Like don’t death mark if you know it’s going to get bopped, stone formed, cauterizing flamed, or cloaked by another rogue
Since Garrote only gives 1 point, are we using Garrote+Rupture spammed on everyone or do we need to have 4 points before doing that?
Thank you all for contributing to my knowledge, thanks to this thread im having more fun exploring Assassin Rogue <3
You don’t have to have Garrote and Rupture on EVERY enemy. I make sure to keep them up on my main target and I don’t have any issues with energy.
You try to make the most of carnage, shadow dance, vanish, and meld to be more efficient about aoe applications, and then keeping everything dotted is very doable.
I wouldn’t typically rupture with less than full combo points, you can shadow dance and get a bunch of improved garrotes out or you can play echoing reprimand and get 7 point ruptures out with the charged combo points
is there a benefit from hitting garrote multiple times while in shadow Dance?
It only affects the duration, you usually want to have garrote up before dance and then garrote at the end of dance to refresh it AND give you the big garrote dot. If you don’t have garrote up before you dance then u can garrote twice for the longest duration, but it’s usually a dps loss because you want to be spamming ambush/envenom in your dance window so try to only garrote at the end of dance (with garrote already applied)
Garrote from Stealth
Garrote while having Indiscriminate Carnage
Garrote while in Dance
Garrote after Vanish
and Garrote after meld+stealth
…will all hit 3 targets if specced for Indiscriminate Carnage. These are the tools that let you keep bleeds up on many targets quite easily. You just have to manage your ability to restealth and spread out the CD’s.
Garrote is usually our #1 damage ability, so maintaining high uptime of empowered Garrotes is a good and simple strategy for improving damage.
Dance activates Carnage, and Carnage also makes Rupture cleave to 3 targets. I wouldn’t run Carnage in 2s, but even in 3s I personally like it. I do all my arena games with friends and we play a DoT based setup though, otherwise I’d probably only run carnage in battleground content for pvp.
You can absolutely destroy in BG’s by tab targetting during the opener to garrote everyone, Rupture as much as possible, popping Crimson Tempest, shiving, popping trinket, then vanishing.
Enjoy doing 300k+ dps while the entire enemy team has all 3 of your bleeds on them and you’ve got base crit + master assassin crit giving you roughly 50-60% crit chance (or 80-90% crit chance in randoms with snail mucus).
If you are alliance and want to do some BG’s I’d love to help out if you’re up for it.

garroting from shadow dance just applies a bigger dot, and doesnt incur the cooldown as if you were casting it from stealth. so ideally when you are in shadow dance or opening from stealth, you will want to get as many garrotes out as possible, they will be more damage than the ones you put up while NOT in stealth or shadow dance.
Ill make a youtube short video of how to sustain energy in 2v2/3v3 arena situations. Ill put something out tomorrow and link it in the chat
A few important fundamentals you need to know about assa energy regen and how it works.
Oh that’s fantastic, Thank you street, fun fact It was because I watched a few of your clips that made me want to get back into Rogue recently, specifically Assassin. Would greatly appreciate that upload <3 thank you.
Holy sht! Thats awesome man, i will get something out later tonight.
Is your issue mainly energy in arena and what to do after openers? Ill try cover a few things in a youtube short to help.
Ill try make a short macro guide too, as i have some amazing marcos that really help with assa rogue.
Eventually ill make an actual guide for 10.2 assa rogue, try cover a few things people are missing.
So my normal opener was Cheap Shot>Garrote>SnD> Serrated Bone Spike >Mutilatex2> Envenom or Kidney
When i get on a target lets say in 1v1 I feel that if i push too many Mutilates to get that damage going for finishers i get energy starved.
I feel the main issue is what to do after openers and after/before burst. I feel i have burst down really well, but that in between feels like im not doing enough, doing anything at all or just not producing enough to get those finishers off.
Definitely dont waste your time with slice and dice in any openers, snd in arena should only be used when there is a break in play, stuck in root, disengage to drop combat etc. I dont use it when i am blasting away on someone but will use it if my kidney is on cd and my target as teleported away from me etc.
Can anyone explain to me the proper way to use Thistle Tea, i use it for my burst but is there any other essential time to drink it?
It gives 13% mastery and energy. If you run sanguine blades it may be useful to use to maintain +50% energy. Other then that you can use it pretty liberally to prevent downtime as long as you save one for burst.
Here is a useful WA I found also to track them:
https ://wago.io/rgr3mIghZ (delete spaces in the url)
Sin has a lot of auras to track to make playing efficiently somewhat difficult. Invest the 1-2 days looking at weakauras and customizing your preferences and it can really give you a leg up.
I run several I found, and some I made.
Doom Cooldown Pulse (helpful for out of stealth garrote CD tracking).
A WA to track subterfuge and shadow dance windows.
A progress bar for tracking IC.
A overlay to show energy below 50%
An extra texture to show when Garrote is off CD
Blindside Texture
Shiv Weakaura
Shroud Weakaura
Shadowstep Weakaura
Sound addon to play a sound when at max CP
and lots of WA’s to track buffs.
You also, imho, 100% want an addon like Plater with a mod to have glow around your bleeds when they reach the pandemic timer. This all might seem overwhelming, but take a deep breath. You don’t have to do any of this. Just ask yourself, “If I didn’t have to look over here, over there, or whatever, would it help me out?” If the answer is yes, look for something out there to do it. You can get a whole lot of extra performance just optimizing your UI for you.
