First off, I am not a good mage player. I am very average. So I do not blame the spec.
I like how the spec plays but I find my damage abysmal.
I am doing well over 100K with my main Ret Paly in Mythic 0 this week, but doing 80-85K on the same dungeons this week with Arcane Sunfury @ ilvl 291
It seems I am doing well on dummy but very bad on real world content Muthic 0.
My issue is mainly, I do the opener:
Arcane Surge
Arcane Missiles
Touch of the Magi
Arcane Barrage
Everything is fine but at some point, Arcane Missiles do not procs like they do on dummy and I am left with casting Arcane Blast, which dumps my damage.
I feel like I am missing another spell on my toolbar.
Any help is welcome.
12.1 Arcane is a casino spec, meaning it relies heavily on RNG procs for the lion’s share of its damage, specifically Clearcasting and the new Apex Talent Prismatic Bolt. So depending on how lucky or unlucky you get with your procs your damage output will fluctuate considerably. Aside from that M0 is not a reliable way of gauging your damage because things die very quickly and that heavily favors melee specs with a more bursty damage profile, like Ret, which is why you felt like you were doing better on that character. But it’s all relative.
You just keep blasting. Procs will come.
Do you have a log of the fight you were struggling on?
You really have rely on bolt, touch and surge to get more clear casting procs.
