Help - ui gcd increasingly unrecognizable with haste

so in general I’ve spread stats around to keep haste manageable, the gcd seems to go strange past certain haste points, like the gcd can’t refresh quickly enough. it’s a graduated issue, now with gear I can’t really avoid it though. the UI looking like an old fashioned silent movie, with lost opportunities, gets semi-unresponsive. At low 20s base it’s not uncommon to see 50,60%+ when the buffs start stacking.

I need this to work better, we will move to mythic soon. Spots are competitive.

i’m on a current computer, addons are minimal, weakauras are as well, I did reset my UI and try it stripped down.

I did some searches, someone mentioned turning off network optimization (lag prediction) off as the fix, I have not tested this.

I need leads and ideas here, things to follow up on and try out, (help)

Get a cast bar like Quartz or Gnosis that displays your GCD and Latency.

Also, make sure to keep your Spell Queue Window at the default 400ms.

OmniCC can also help you visualize the GCD better on charged spells.

That said, Haste doesn’t really become a rotational issue till you’re casting quicker than the GCD (< 0.75s) and given the cast times of most Shaman spells you’re looking in the 150%+ range before that should happen.

thank you, ah, I don’t post on main anymore, it always turns out to be rail-jumping distraction. playing a hunter, with covt. lego the soulbind has a giant haste buff, combined with lust or PI or some other procs or trinks or whatever it absolutely becomes a problem.

yeah I saw some videos on this hidden spellQueueWindow variable … I don’t really see a good consistent answer for what it absolutely should be (perhaps it’s 400 as you say) but my guess is for this instant ability GCD flicker state … I don’t think max value would be it. We’ll see.

Thanks for the notes, I’ll look into those things.

The SQW has no effect on the GCD and lowering it too much can cause you to have gaps in your rotation. The minimum you should ever set it is double your average latency. That said, leaving it at the default is best in 99% of situations.

If you want to mess around with it you can easily access it via the AdvancedInterfaceOptions addon.

yeah, I can see that it’s something which is not clear cut … and possibly really variable as latency can change at will. funny, I actually found a video about it from that hazel person, even she took her hands off without a clear req.

changing the network setting seemed to help right off, certainly while solo, 100% clear improvement. but I noticed different behavior in 5s, seemingly good but … different. planning to leave it off for raid and test it out … at least once.

Nice.

If you wanna read a good writeup of how SQW works I recommend this one:
