Help to better understand stats percentage

Hi, I wanted to ask about secondary stats. As you level, they obviously increase, but recently I’ve noted that the percentage of mastery and haste have been reduced. I imagine the percentage is reduced as you level (because u need to increase them in order to maintain those percentage values). Right now my haste is like 8% and I think its too low for a fury warrior at 116.
Could u look at my gear and tell me if its normal cause im leveling up fast or if theres something I could improve? Thanks, Ill be waiting for your feedback.

Secondary stats on leveling gear (haste, crit, mastery, versatility) are always weird. Typically we don’t advise worrying too much about stat balance until you reach max level and can start targeting the stats you need.

Every piece of gear (except trinkets) always have at least two kinds of stats on them. Primary stats (strength, agility, or intellect) are based on your class and spec. Since you’re a Warrior, your primary stat will always be strength.

Secondary stats are a bit more of a crapshoot. icy-veins has very good “at-a-glance” type priorities for each class and spec. It won’t give you percentages, but it will give you an idea of what stats you should be looking for on your gear, and give you a jumping off point to determine whether a piece of gear is truly an upgrade or not. At max level stats >>> ilevel.

As it happens, leveling gear rarely has haste on it, more commonly sacrificing it on the altar of versatility. You can combat this a little bit by selecting quest rewards that will give you more haste as you level, although this can come at the expense of other stats, so be careful with doing this.

You can use the same method at max level, prioritizing equipping gear with Haste and Mastery (your top two secondary stats as Fury) over other gear until you feel comfortable with the amount of haste you have. Take a look at the dungeon and raid loot lists (in the Adventure Journal under their respective tabs) and take a look at the secondary stats for the gear that bosses drop (select a specific boss in a dungeon or raid, and click the treasure chest tab to see what loot they will drop for your current class and spec). For Mythic 0 dungeons and raids, use your weekly “reroll” tokens only on bosses that can drop a piece of gear that you want.

My personal recommendation would be to finish leveling, and then start focusing on getting haste gear until your haste reaches about 20%. After that, it’s kind of a balancing act. Every piece of gear you get, you can decide whether or not to equip it. I’ll typically try to keep my haste in the 18-25% range if I can (neither of my raiding toons currently have anywhere close to that due to “season 1” raid gear typically not having a lot of haste), as that’s where I feel like my rotation is most comfortably smooth.

Thanks! Im about to get to max lvl and been doing really well in bgs with these stats, so I’ll try to improve them in the best way I can. Are raids and dungeons the best way to improve your ilevel at max level?

I would say raids and dungeons are the most reliable way to improve your ilevel outside of “limited” events such as the Timewalking week quest (one free piece of 355 raid gear) and the Mythic dungeon week quest (one free piece of 370 raid gear), and the Warfronts (one 340 piece of gear per completion + one piece of 370 gear for doing the quest).

If you don’t want to just spam dungeons right away when you reach 120, you can also look for world quests (you’ll get a quest to unlock them in Boralus at level 120) that offer gear rewards. As your ilevel increases, the ilevel of the world quest and emissary rewards will also increase, as high as 370 ilevel. However both world quests and emissaries are also “limited” content.

The most reliable progression for gear is to spam queue random normal dungeons and do world quests until you can enter heroic dungeons, then spam random heroics and do world quests until you can access LFR.

After that, doing Mythic+ dungeons or finding groups to run Normal or Heroic Uldir with will be your best bets for higher level gear. PvP can get you some too (you’ll get a gladiator chest every Tuesday if you cap in rated PvP, much like you’ll get a Mythic+ chest every Tuesday if you do at least one Mythic+ dungeon every week - these also contain a random piece of gear), but the drop rate is lower relative to PvE sources.

Thanks! That advice is really helpful. Im about to hit 120, so I’ll keep it in mind
Where could I find all the weekly events such as the timewalking quest and their rewards?
