They seem appear as soon as I apply a buff to a raid or party member (spells like renewing mists, enveloping mist, etc), and disappear when the buff expires.
When I /reload they stop appearing, but then it will randomly start again later.
I suspect that it may be related to VuhDo, as that’s what I use as my raid/party frames, but I can’t be sure. I also run a few other addons that interact with buff icons:
VuhDo
Pitbull
Plater
Masque
Weak Auras
Its very hard to narrow down but turning addons off one at a time because a /reload temporarily fixes the issue. And I have to wait until it randomly starts again.
Anyone else experience this or know what could be causing these empty icons to appear?
Type /fstack and place your mouse over the frames. See if the information in the tooltip that pops up gives information that might tell you what addon it is.
Is fstack showing the tooltip and highlighting the frames or does the mouse pass over them with no highlighting and/or tooltip or, if there is a highlighted area larger than the frames, does the frame stack tooltp alter (list more/less regions) when the mouse moves in/out of the prolem area?
It’s the different between determining if the “frames” were created by the game UI or not (if not then it’s not an addon).
That’s why I’m thinking it may not be an addon but rather something external to the game. fstack should list everything UI/addon related that is on-screen, Shown and rendered via the addon API.
Elvenbane’s suggestion is certainly a place to start though if you’re not prepared to just turn off all your addons long enough to prove me wrong… which is always a possability .
