Hey everyone,
So I’m going to boost a dk to 120 soon and need help deciding what spec to play.
I’m a casual player, mainly focused on pvp for 2v2 and battlegrounds, but love a good world pvp also. I do also do mythic + a little bit but not as much as pvp.
What would everyone recommend the spec I play? Unholy or frost?

I’m no expert on the subject but I hear Unholy is in a great spot for both pvp and mythic+.

There is no argument. Unholy is better and always has been. Frost is a tank spec that has fallen from grace to a wet noodle.

I personally, prefer frost over unholy since they swapped from diseases to wounds. That comes down to a play style for me. I like the fact that frost doesnt have a 3rd resource to track and a more entertaining ebb and flow.
Unholy vs frost for doing the best dps really doeant matter until youre pushing really high keys and pvp.
As a casual player. Id say try both and decide which you enjoy better.

I would just try them each out. I would say unholy is better right now just in terms of overall design.
Unholy. It has better class fantasy, and tbh I hate dual wielding as a death knight.

Unholy for everything but Mythic Raiding. Having stacks of pets not only attacking, but then exploding on your enemies is good fun. It is one of, if not the best sustained AoE damage spec in the game, assuming you’re in content where enemies don’t die in 5 seconds.

I am biased towards Unholy because I’ve always enjoyed it (just like pet classes), and I like Blood so there is less gear to farm. I am working on my frost set just because I am bored, but the playstyle just isn’t as enjoyable to me. To each their own though!
Puppy has another valid point. If you go Unholy you can use the same gear with Blood. Frost being DW means it’s in it’s own ballpark.
Seriously though, just go Unholy. It’s hands down the best pvp spec, it’s the best M+ spec, and in raids unless you’re doing Mythic mode Unholy still beats Frost in dps. It’s not until ultra high ilvl that Frost out scales Unholy.

Frost has better single target, Unholy is better at literally everything else.

Frost only has better single target in Mythic level gear. Until about ilvl 430 Unholy still wins. No amount of dps is worth having to play Breath of Sindergosa and spend all day puking blue.

Meh, I prefer frost, but i’m biased in this gal’s “lore.”
I will concede that I’ve only been doing Legion Heroics 'till I can afford BFA, but only “legendary” geared people and Arcane mages beat me (on bosses).
Uhh, i’m 110, not 72, lol.
I prefer frost. Simpler and doesn’t have a pet. I dont really like pets on melee classes, part of why i cant stand SV.
