Help on classes!

I’ve been playing wow for about a month now, gotten a mage, warlock, death knight, and demon hunter to level 50 and a few up to 60. I was just wondering, and please don’t say whatever I think is the most fun because I don’t know lol I’ve been bouncing around characters since starting the game and need help making this decision so I can start playing with my friends in their guild, which classes have the following

always have a button/ability available to press/doesnt have to constantly wait on cooldowns

has “oomph” ex: abilities feel satisfying, I did not find demon hunter to have this for example with its laser beams and slashes they felt like scissors to me personally

doesn’t have to stay in one place to attack bosses in dungeons/raids

high damage at high ilvl

diverse rotations?

thank you!

Sounds like monk.

You can even use weak auras to add sound effects to really give you that “oomph” feel. My rising sun kick sounds like a shotgun.

You are very mobile, you’re always pressing something save for when you’re channeling fists of fury, you burst really high, do tons of AoE damage, you’re rewarded for not pressing the same button twice making your rotation extremely diverse; it’s basically got everything you want.

Only part you probably won’t like is Kiefer’s Sky Reach. You can be standing on a boss’s rear end and it’ll zig zag you in front of the boss bc the coding on it is wonky.

With these two I would say fury warrior. Fury is very mobile and has one of the highest actions per minute in the game.

But with this I would say consider monk. There isn’t much variation in the fury rotation. The monk rotation has variation between AOE and single target rotations/builds…while fury pretty much stays the same.

Monk does better overall in raid than fury, but they are both great at AOE and weak in single target

how does monk compare to rogue?

this means different things to different people. The most oomph ability out of those classes to me is chaos bolt

Depends on which rogue spec.

Windwalker has extremely high AoE damage, and mediocre ST damage. They also have a really fun execute in Touch of Death.

Outlaw is pressing a lot of buttons, not much burst damage. Good in ST and AoE (up to a point). Very durable and has +3 range. Biggest draw is that their AoE build doesn’t fall off much in ST.

Sub is good burst, good ST, and really strong AoE past a point. Where outlaw falls off in AoE sub shines. They can also do some of the highest ST in the game if there are enough mobs around them by “funneling” their damage.

Sin has good low target count damage and really strong ST. Not sure how they play after the recent changes though.

Both monk and Rogue have tons of utility. Rogue has more survivability than monk, but monk isn’t squishy.

rogue has always been appealing to me, does rogue feel like you are using scissors ever? or does it have the same or maybe even more of a strength feeling to it than the monk?

Ummm, so I’m not sure what you mean by “scissor” feel? I’m assuming you mean do the abilities hit hard?

Yes, do they feel weak, like Demon Hunter?

I should comment that I just didn’t like Demon Hunter’s laser beams, they didn’t feel strong to me

I’d cast my vote for Fury warrior. Very high apm spec thats quite mobile. You can have multiple small cds like odyns fury, spear of bastion, avatar, and recklessness that when chained together can be quite powerful.

I’ve looked at fury quite a bit, but is it’s skill ceiling very high?

Hard to say, Demon Hunter is actually really strong lol.

If you’re talking from a “feeling” perspective, Outlaw definitely has a good feel to it, and so does sub. Monk on the other hand feels extremely strong when played right. I think that bursty explosion of damage is what you’re looking for and that’s more consistent in monk.

As other people are saying though, fury may not have as diverse a rotation as monk, but it definitely feels strong when you play it. You’ve got two giant weapons just clapping stuff.

no, you apply face to keyboard and you’re already a half-decent fury warrior

Demon Hunters make you become a gigachad

Hey I take offense to that! I smash my fists into the keyboard to the tune of the donkey kong country first levels drums and do just fine.

I guess I’m looking for a more advanced class with many different abilities to use as attacks, Demon Hunter just didn’t have that for me :slightly_frowning_face:

You could also put a fury warrior keyboard overlay on top of the tablet version of fruit ninja placed in front of a cat and do fine

Is monk or rogue’s rotation more focused on damage rather than other cooldowns (buffs/defensives)?

rogue specs have 1-2 maintenance buffs, and 1-3 dots to maintain.

WW is a lot more about using all your spells on cooldown and avoiding using the same button twice in a row.

All that being said, I feel you’re sleeping on destruction warlock right now
