Help me understand Blizz’s philosophy on Delves

So Blizz nerfed tank Brann because people were clearing delves with a lower than recommended ilvl. T11 Delves have a recommended ilvl of 658, but by the time you are 658 you have no purpose to be running Delves. You can safely start running higher keys and heroic raid, potentially Mythic raid, and get better gear and more Gilded crests. So why nerf Brann to just make it harder to get gear you need to start doing higher end game activities?

you are assuming people only want to run delves for gear and actually want to raid or m+

Furthermore nerfing tank brann was an emergency priority yet tank players with greens have been face rolling T11s and blizzard has been sleeping on it.

Make it make sense.

Nobody awake at the wheel. I’ve unsubbed until someone with some sense is back in charge of the product.

Because solo players wanted an endgame activity that was designed with specifically them in-mind. That means a way to progress your character, a way to progress the activity itself, and to develop over time.
Brann’s tanking was able to trivialize all of that therefore it got nerfed.

See it like this; you can either have Delves be a way to progress your character, have its own progression system, and reward you progress in the vault - or you can have an un-nerfed Brann.

You cannot have both.

It appears that there are probably 2 groups working on them.
First group designs them and is of the mind that they are a pillar of end game play.
The second group hold Ion’s belief that they are only in game to force more players into M+ and thus should be lesser than M+ at all times.
Sadly its group two that does the balancing.

Unless you got insider information, we can safely assume that no; your entire “Let’s use Ion as a buzzword” is just you using memes instead of critical thinking.

Delves are designed as an endgame pillar which in turn means it has to be balanced as one. Brann was overpowered and trivialized delves, so he got nerfed. Just like how it is in every other form of endgame content if it trivializes it.

The Devs have said multiple times that there is a Design team and then a Balancing team. Anything new is done by the design team. Then any adjustments needed after release is done by the balancing teams. That is why we always see this tug-o-war happening with new features.

one is easier to fix than the other. hope i could help make it make sense

It’s easier to take a dump on healers than tanks so healers get dumped on, balance was not the goal.

After gearing in Delves I’d rather run bare foot through broken glass and soak my feet in rubbing alcohol afterwards than do M+

you want to explain that to tanks… so it should be a slog/disaster for everyone or no one. Not sure what was difficult to understand about why people are not happy about this.

thats an interesting take or lets think about this logically. to fix the brann tank issue they need to just nerf brann. to fix the tank players issue they need to balance it for all the different tank classes. lets go ahead and count. nerf brann tank mode thats one action. balance all the tank classes for delves thats alot of actions.
i get that your salty but i the healer meta for delves was broken plain and simple.

People definitely understand it. The thing is that the quality of character on these forums yields people that are simply happy that someone else is unhappy.

Misery loves company.

Let’s go through YOUR logic on this.

Balancing the tanks for delves is a ton of work and delves weren’t important enough to take the time to do.

BUT at the same time it was important enough to kneecap tank Brann.

So it was important to cut the healers down a peg but not important enough to do it to the tanks, who were doing the exact same thing that is worth addressing when the healers do it.

never once said that we could still see more changes.

yes because it was literally broken 11’s are supposed to give delvers a challenge and healing brann was braindead easy. i know i took full advantage of it.

You realize there are videos of sub 600 iLvL tanks clearing with DPS Brann in under 15 minutes right?

What’s your argument for that?

They’ve never really given tanks a challenge.

Why are we just skirting around the elephant in the room like this?
