i need to time travel to when auberdine was not in ruins.
That is not possible in the retail game. The only two phases that are possible are the Cataclysm phase (where the docks have been destroyed by elementals) and the BfA Warfront phase where I think they’ve been rebuilt, but the zone is in the Warfront state.
Why do you need Auberdine to not be in ruins? If it’s for a quest, then most likely there’s an error in the quest text that wasn’t updated properly and we can direct you to the proper place. If you just want to visit, you can create a Classic or Classic BC character to visit the pre-Cataclysm world.

Sadly, that’s long gone due to the Cataclysm expansion. The only way further back is to play one of the two WoW classics.
There is an NPC is some zones that allows you to travel to pre-cata zones.
That’s what I found by researching it. On the minimap, it will be like a dialog box icon 
. Talk to NPC “Transfer me…” whatever the dialog option is.

This is not correct. There is no way to travel to the pre-Cataclysm version of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor in retail WoW. Some zones have had changes to them since Cataclysm, and the NPCs allow travel between those post-Cata timelines in zones and the Cataclysm timeline.
There is an NPC in Darkshore. I’ve used it. This may not be the correct location.
But later, I will log in and find it and share screenshot.
Pretty sure Darkshore wasn’t changed in cata
The npc is Zidomi. She returns various zones to their state before a particular xpac. Each zone she is in is associated with changes for a give xpac.
Darkshore, and Auberdine, was pretty much destroyed during Cata.
It suffered further as a result of the Legion pre-release events and the standard retail version is that post-legion version.
Zidomi in Darkshore can return you to the older post Cata version but the old pre-Cata version with an intact Auberdine is totally inaccessible in retail now.

If you want to see the pre-Cataclysm Darkshore, you can make a Night Elf Character in Classic/Burning Crusade Classic and run them out to Auberdine. (I wouldn’t actually go out into Darkshore on a level 1 character unless you want corpse run fun times — but those are best saved for the Wetlands run!)
