How do I git gud at this? All my stuff is level 8 and this is taking FOREVER. In legion we had all kinds of skip items. Now they don’t work (including the shoulder enchant, I know, I tried it). So how the heck do I get this done in a couple of hours so I can fly in this game?
Get on that ole YouTube and check out Pet battles on there, I just looked and there’s quite a few good guides.

Unborn Valk’yr, Ikky and w/e you want your third pet to be. You really only need those first two and they’ll carry you through every single pet battle.

If you played in WoD, every level 3 garrison you have will give a 1 min long quest to get a level 25 pet boost. I had 0 max level pets before 8.2 but I ran a factory of 9 garrisons during WoD so I was able to get a bunch of boosts then buy a few select pets from the AH.
Rule number one - don’t leave everything till the last minute.
There are skip items as well since you can buy the epic stones with charms.
You should be able to do most of the BoA and Legion pet battle masters with low level pets. The Pet battle masters pets will scale to the high level pet in your group.
Not sure about the new 8.2 pet battle masters but the other should be doable with low level pets.
go to the pet battle subforum and axe specific questions. your question’s rather vague. but i’ll tell you you can capture pets 2 levels above your current, so if your highest is 10, go to a zone with 12 and capture a 12, then 14. also you can buy, off the AH, pre-leveled pets, but can only learned pets as high as your current pet. some must haves:
anubisath idol (twin emps in aq 40 or AH)
mechanical pandaren dragonling (eng or AH)
emperor crab (caught in dread wastes) p/p breed is best
emerald proto-whelp (caught in sholozar basin) p/p breed is best
a lot of people like teroclaw hatchling (picked out of nests in talador or bought off AH), tho i prefer chi chi.
zandalari dinos (i use anklerender a lot - drop from Zandalari trolls on Isle of giants or AH)
pandaren water spirit (drop from flowing water spirit or whatever its called or AH). he can be pretty pricey, so…
fel flame is pretty solid elemental (h/p breed), too (SMV (outland), tanaan jungle.
oh yeah, shimmershell snail (dread wastes) or mudshell conch (highmountain). they’re both snails, hard counter for elementals.
get the addon “battle pet breed id”. its outdated last i knew, but still works. and if you still do stuff in broken isles, get the shoulder enchant from that dealer in dalaran, the Boon of the Zookeeper. you can get Pet Goodies like +25% for an hour XP sausages and family specific stones to upgrade to rare quality.

For what its worth, I did all the legendary pet battles and Ikky/Unborn Valkyr arent good in every single encounter. The Zandalari Kneebiter was also needed and some of them I had to pick a random comp and hope for the best.
Ikky and the Unborn Valkyr work for quite a few, but not all.
A Boneshard is also really good for these fights. Excellent synergy with Black Claw/Flock pets.
Starting tomorrow, you get a 200% bonus to pet XP. It runs for a week.
