I’m struggling with my main team against thunder as ret/demo/disc. We get on a roll then hit a wall of thunder. The strat we’ve landed on is me turreting mid to get pressure then porting ascendance procs, yet it seems I’m just getting melted and controlled way too much with all the disruption/fear immunity the comp has.
I had one WW tell me they just line the ele and melt the warrior, but I feel like ret/demo might not be able to do that? My team doesn’t like the idea as it opens us to cleave/intim shout. Any suggestions? I know the strat is dependent on what healer they have.
If it’s MW, your only legitimate strat will be to try and cheese the MW in a few goes, because you are just going to lose the PVE game. You also need to play very reactively and not overlap any CDs, because your win con will be those setups.
Vs Pres/Hpal, you may just need to try super hard to out PVE them and not lose on CDs.
I’d have to see the gameplay to know, but I don’t really think you should lose to them from a PVE standpoint? As you will outlast them CD wise, but you need to be able to get your own damage out and let your ret enable you.
As for lining and training the war, it just simply isn’t going to work. You’re oging to let the ele do whatever he wants, and have no access to things like tremor/grounding because of that. You can try just having your ret go ele/healer, while you drag the war to egypt and try to force a mana bar war. If the war is scared of just w keying you, it opens you up to play the game more.
Definitely. What tends to happen is the ele/healer just control tf out of the ret as I don’t really have a kick, but I will definitely use this info for the gameplan next sesh.
Your ret can solo an rdruid any day of the week if he has no hots no trinket. If you can connect its extra.
If the rdruid is pushing into you, you can both target him and force him off. He should realistically never be allowed to play the game vs ret/demo, because your burst swaps in goes are extremely lethal to him.
I’m surprised an rdruid thunder is something a ret is struggling with atm, tbh.
Rdruid is very mana intensive atm, the more damage you’re doing the less time they have to do any sort of CC which means they’re healing.
Again, I can’t really go in depth on things because I need to see vods to know, but I’d argue that if you’re losing to rdruid clones, you’re just not getting anything done. Get your port down, put an offensive gate up, and play max range of your port either into a corner, or into the mid map. If the druid is trying to play the game, you punish him.
Obviously boomy comps are different in how they play, but if there’s an rdruid in my game, I’m always considering how I can do my goes into them, rather than a different target.
It could also be I’m not getting enough pressure. That’s the one comp where I feel I really struggle getting things going. I’ve been able to against some, but all the grounding/sheer stun/knocks. Are you sinking your dam into ele or war? Ele feels pretty tanky rn
I mean I don’t play my warlock often, but thunder is objectively my hardest matchup. It’s an extremely uphill battle since I lack defensives and am forced to play extremely carefully.
Generally though as boomy/rogue, we have 2 strats. Beam on stuns and cheese the healer in 3 goes, or train the ele with my rogue and I just try to pull the warrior into egypt and solo him.
The second strat, if it works even one time, makes the warrior play extremely reserved in every game after that, and you’ll be able to get more passive pressure out becuase they aren’t sure if they can zug you anymore.
Yeah I feel that. I can’t really peel as they’re impervious to fear and demo has to cast a good amount. It’s the one comp I have zero confidence against lol I’m more ramp pressure too so pulling a war back into LoS and killing them with insta surge isn’t on the table lol
At lower ratings wars leap in when I have tyrant rolling and I just toss and kill, but the decent ones don’t fall for that
Well you hsould still be fearing them to get enrage out, but you can also put every axe toss into them if you need to so you have that space. Your tyrant goes should never be ignored by them, and if they are then there’s an issue on your rets end.
My honest recommendation, based on how you describe the matchups, is just do healer swaps. Train ele outside of that, and just try to cycle enrage for your fears on the war throughout the game. If you can get the enrage out, your priest can fear him off you on your goes.
That pesky tremor and grounding messes me up too lol also bop gets insta purged every time. I do appreciate the feedback though man. Really. I def need to make some adjustments.
