Help me decide. Rogue or DH?

Hello everyone. I just came back to WoW last month in preparation for Dragonflight. I have been DK main for a long time with rogue, hunter and monk inbetween.

I tried DH again since I just loved the lore behind them but for some reason could not get into them back in Legion despite being super excited about them and making one immediately on Legion launch. I am loving my DH now though.

However I also just started playing my rogue again to get nightfae covenant to renown 80 for the xmogs etc. and they also seems fun so I am back to being a bit indecisive on who to main going forward lol. :))

Any advice is appreciated thanks

FWIW, DF Rogue looks more interesting to me, but I’ve never been a huge player of either class.

They’re both going to change pretty radically on patch day. So why not use the ~2 months or so between now and then to get both to a decent amount of gear and make your decision then?

Blizzard has a tendency to favor rogues.

Plus, big Mike is probably going to main rogue so best believe they won’t be bad.

Depends on what you want. If you want the stealthy type and a ‘melee-mage’ style of combat (more a leather chainsaw versus a glass cannon) rogue is fun but can be a challenge to master.

DH has the option for a tank spec that could make for easier leveling and if you want to try out tanking as a role. Their big seller is all the mobility. If you like that then it might be the one for you.

I’d do one of each to see which play style suits you best.

Demon hunter are about to see some big playstyle changes. Take a look at beta gameplay and see if it interests you.

Plus, double jump glide is life.

Yea I just geared my rogue with catch up gear. will probably play around with him from time to time

Double jump/Glide vs. Pickpocketing/Grappling hook is a hard choice. I like my rogue more for dps style my DH is fun to tank with. The most critical question is likely would you ever want to tank with the character? Because if yes, that puts you solidly on DH side.

the changes in dragonflight seems awesome for DH. more option on different playstyles it seems. Glaives are part of the identity of Illidan and demonhunters so having a glaive playstyle seems nice.

I usually will probably just use the tank spec for killing elites that I cannot solo on my dps spec like I used to do on my DK when I switch to blood for elites mobs.

Neither one.

Have some self respect and don’t play rogue… DH.

unpopular opinion: of all the the classes, Rogues are the hardest to master

Druid Cat.

Rogue sounds fun. Of course I’ve never got one to max level because it’s the antithesis of how I play

I would always pick DH as they have a tank spec for when you’re bored or want faster ques.

Thanks everyone. I will stick to DH for now then

I’ve had both as my temporary mains on the horde side, and enjoyed both. My DH was my Legion main, loved the double jump parkour ability, plus never dying if you’d fall off of high places. Rogue was my BFA main and is fun because if you get in a tight spot you can always go stealth to lose aggro, although I always had a little trouble fighting more than 2-3 enemies at a time.
I’m not a great player though and never did raids, dungeons or pvp with them, and haven’t looked at the talent trees for DF yet, so I can’t speak to any of that.
I am undecided which horde character I’ll main in DF yet, I’ll probably decide more when it gets closer or if I can ever figure out the talent tree stuff. Good luck either way!!

Speed, baby. DH and then Evoker.

In my opinion, DH isn’t very fun to play. It’s a very simple rotation and it can be very effective, but just doesn’t have any real…pop to it for me? That and the fantasy of just being a DH is kinda…meh. Especially with demons being more or less gone.

Rogues are extremely fun to play, though. You have all kinds of neat tricks you can pull off, and I like all three of the class fantasies it brings to the table: You wanna be a venomous assassin? Swashbuckling outlaw? A ninja throwing actual shuriken? Wow! That sounds neat!

Rogue gets my vote.

Any class with multiple DPS specs available to it will always be the safer choice. You have 3 chances of winning the tuning draw, rather than one. That said, if you ever wanna tank, then the choice seems fairly obvious to me.

DH is fun until you try any other class and realize it’s a one trick pony and terribly simple in design.
