Help me decide a faction for Whitemane

I’ve heard the PvP is good and I’d like to get back into Classic. My choice is between a Dwarf or an Orc Rogue.

I’ve heard Whitemane is Alliance dominated.

I’ve also heard of potential Horde guilds transferring to Whitemane to stir up some drama and PvP, which sounds fun.

I’ve perused the threads and I can’t really make a decision.

Bias here, obviously, but I have 60’s on both factions, and the horde are much nicer on WMC. You have more options on Alliance and if you find a guild randoms don’t mean anything, but I’d recommend Horde.

Horde are superior in all ways.

Except many of ours questing zones, a lot of those kind of stink.

But we are still the best.

Alliance if want to look at pretty cities and faces

Horde if you don’t care

Play what you like, but your OP seems to be pointing to playing horde.

Presently, but this is not universally true, it more depends on when you’re playing. For example this time last year it was Horde dominant in terms of population.

If this is your preference, that’s fine but consider UD / Troll; UD is overall better in PVP and Troll is overall better in PVE.

The problem with Orc excluding the appearance is the “RNG” stun resist if that’s your thing, its just that and it never works when you want it to work.

On the contrary with UD, you’re fully in command of the will of the Forsaken CD use, and its VERY strong because its basically the rogue PVP trinket but with a shorter CD and a very short fear immune; with rogue things that you can count on and use dependably are really the strongest way to play. The nice part about will of the forsaken for rogues is that it allows you to run double DPS trinkets. You really cant do that with orc in some match ups such as VS warrior, Lock and priest because PVP trinket is a never leave home without it.

to add my take in this again, i usually choose races based on what i like the look of/lore most (like i have a tauren hunter because it feels like they would be a responsible hunter yknow?), so if you feel thus inclined, make a decision based on the feels.

Does this mean you already have these characters at 60?

Some other things to consider. Playing vs pallies or playing vs shaman. How that affects stuff like FAP’s, getting dispels, buffs, debuffs. Going against stoneform, or going against stun resist etc.

True about the pallies vs shamans thing!

Everyone will have their personal opinion, but I’d rather be annoyed by a dispel botting pally than 1 shot by a shaman.

What about 1 shot by a pally?

:stuck_out_tongue: sorry babe, it just don’t hit the same (not from 36 yards away basically)

haha, but the warlock kinda feels like she does.

perhaps that’s because my shaman isn’t very geared though

I mean your warlock crit a soulfire on my 57 hunter with essence of sapphiron active and only did 3.6k (‘‘only’’) and you still had to conflag to finish her off, when you consider a 10 second cast to a 3.5ish (between LB and CL), yeah, its hard.

Not to say warlock cant be dummy dumb, we’ve all seen the videos of 10k+ crits!

I think its more in reliably relative to the shaman, the soulfire is mostly used for fun. With the warlock it is really reliable to immo + conflag at 36 yard range, whereas the shaman can only do a chain or a bolt at that range.

In order to full EM combo they have to be within 20 yards which is like the biggest weakness of ele, unless you are standing right ontop of them, it is often easy to just walk away from their combo.

But i totally agree, an ele shaman doing a full zug combo does way more damage, and with a invis pot / the trinket can land it really reliably if they are good.

That’s true - warlock also has the benefit of going affli and laying pain on a bunch of people at once. It’s not as good as a fire lock, and you have less control (between dispels and not wanting to just dot everything sometimes), but you have options.

Ele’s other option is to offheal. Still solid, but more reliant. That being said, from my warlock’s PoV, still think shaman is more annoying. Curse of tongues a pally and fear spam makes them pretty non-threatening.

Yeah they very much are.

And to OP’s question I think also take into account if you want to fear enemies / run flags.
It is notoriously hard to fear horde as most of their pvp players are undead and shamans have tremor totem.

Also shamans have purge which removes FAPs and makes it harder to run flags in pugs. Whereas half the time the alliance team will have no priest so horde can just fap + rocket boots into easy caps.

When in doubt, ask ChatGPT…!

You can just as easily be globaled by a Pala also, and Freedom / BoP are OP AF in addition to Sac and cleanse. Overall if you have some strong buddies near by the Pala is better, lots better actually. BUT shaman is 100% noob friendly to play and very strong at the base level.
