So I’ve played balance for the last couple of expansions, and I really love it. A lot of people really hate eclipse, but I never played a druid with any of the previous iterations of eclipse, so I have nothing to compare it to.
Can someone help clarify the priority while in an eclipse?
I understand how to get into eclipse, and what spells to use during each eclipse, but I guess what I’m asking is… if I’m in lunar eclipse, but need single target damage, is it better to cast starfire/starfall for their benefits, or keep casting wrath for single target? And vice versa, for the opposite situation. And what is more important, extending the eclipse you want to be in, or just cycling through each eclipse naturally?
Empowerments just feel easier to understand, since it’s easy to have multiple of each active, and you can choose which empowerment you need to use more, and just ignore the other one with little to no penalty.
I’d love to keep playing my druid, but it just doesn’t seem to click for me with the revamp.
Well, I’m normally a feral main and am going back to that in slands so I’ve not been as invested in boomy changes but for 90% of bfa I was balance. I play both currently.
What I can gather is since SS extends the eclipses, it’s beneficial to prolong the ideal one (solar for ST) as long as possible. With that said, as far as being in a lunar eclipse during ST, I’d assume you’d want to pool AP (without capping) and transition as fast as you can. I think this is a point of contention amongst most in that it doesn’t feel good to cast spells you don’t want to cast due to the eclipse benefits. This is also why pvp seems to be meh because you don’t have the luxury of scripted encounters.
So I guess I can only help to speculate that you’d still cast wrath to move into solar eclipse quicker and then try your best to make it last as long as you can. Hopefully someone with more beta knowledge can chime in because I’m kind of. Heinous of the inner workings as well.
Basically you will dot up cast 2 (wrath or starfire) proc eclipse. Spam opposite spell til pulled into the other eclipse and repeat. They have a 30 second internal cooldown so you have to rotate eclipses. Its clunky but it feels better than the wotlk version. Hopefully starfall is still good when it goes live because our aoe ramp up time will be slow without it. Also after a certain amount of targets your better off just refreshing starfall and spamming starfire with wrath losing its aoe component
