My friends are going to be playing orcs/trolls, but I’d really like to be a forsaken. Is there a realistic way to get from the forsaken starting zone to the orc one so we can level together? Do I also have to be a certain level before I leave the forsaken area to be able to do stuff in the orc one?
you can do it right away however its a huge waste of time. Just level by yourself to about 12 and then meet up

You need to walk to your Zepplin tower and then fly to Orgrimmar and then run far far south to level with him. I would wait since you’re probably going to have some class quests and stuff anyways. Also the orc/troll area will have more traffic. Wait till about 12+ and go quest with him in the barrens or have him join you in silverpine

Kalimdor is mostly untouched by the undead plague. If you spread it while you’re there, no desert after supper for you.

Tbh, getting to twelve will take at least a couple hours. It’s worth meeting up earlier if you plan on leveling with somebody.
Realistically you’ll want to get to 5 or 6 first because the 1-5 zones can be pretty strict about what races can get the quests.

So if I make it to Durotar fresh outta forsaken starting zone, I can still take quest around there?
On the stress test I could pick up everything except class quests.
I would do it and be that undead in Org with a wolf mount lol
i recommend finishing tirisfal glades and meeting them in the barrens (since you’ll be going there anyway)
This is true, but I’m doing it with a DRUID going all the way to Brill at level 10.
Best route is to have the Orc/Troll players going to Brill at 8 imo.
Getting a Forsaken to Durator is probably the easiest run in the game for a starter zone.

Why struggle and hamstring yourselves when you could just get to Orgimmar between 10 and 15 and do RFC?
You should have a race to level 5 with your friends.
Whoever reaches it 1st, well, that’s the area to be questing in anyways.
You can all meet in Brill or you can meet at the Troll village outside the orc starting area (name escapes me) depending on who wins.

Choice 1) Make char, run to Brill, take Org zep, run to Valley of Trials, begin questing together, both probably lvl 1.

Level thru starting zone and get to lvl 5 while your friend does too, then run to Brill and take Zep. Meet at Razor Hill and lvl together as lvl 5’s.

Level thru Tirisfal and a few in Silverpine to lvl 12, take Brill zep to Org, run to Crossroads and meet friend. Start levelling in Barrens together at 12.
