Help a dude out! Rogue or Warlock?

So I have a dilemma. In original classic I played a Rogue as my main character. So when it comes to class selection I am divided between playing a rogue again for all the nostalgia or playing a Warlock for a new experience.

It really has come down to these two classes for me and I just can’t decide. Everyday I go back and fourth multiple times on which I will play.

So I decided to kinda flip a coin by letting votes decide. So if you would take this quick poll I will play whichever one gets more votes.

Thanks for the time!

I’m a little biased… but it honestly depend on what style of play you like most. I’ve always been a melee guy, so I’m going rogue. Warlock and rogue are both optimal choices, but at the end of the day which one do you think you will enjoy more? It’s been a long time since you’ve leveled a rogue in the vanilla world, so you may still get those new experiences/nostalgia that you want.

Play them both.

I will eventually level both but I need to pick one to go first

if you are trying to rush your first character to 60, play the one you are most familiar with. But if you are not rushing, play the new one first.

Warlocks are fun.

Hard call, both have merits but part of this descision should be based on your objectives in game.

If its PvP you’re focusing on, rogue is just too much fun, 2 shot kills on Clothie’s never gets old.

If you’re going to focus on Raiding or PvE, time to try a warlock imho, as it will make the game great playing from a different perspective.

Then there’s the best option, do BOTH lol.

I like PvE mainly but also like to PVP on the side. I feel with Rogue I would feel compelled to respec to pvp with any effectiveness. That and I like solo grinding.

Voted. Good luck and enjoy the game.

Well, with rogue you have the sword spec that is good pvp/pve wise. However, warlocks get pets which will make solo grinding a lot easier.

New Experience, Why not?

Like others have stated it depends on your overall goals. Since it seems you want to level both, my next question would be do you intend on leveling as fast as you can on your first char? If so, I’d say go warlock. From most accounts I’ve read, warlocks are one of the most efficient/fastest classes at leveling in classic/vanilla.

Not crazy fast like some of these people but a pretty decent pace. Maybe 3 weeks to 60.

That’s really fast, about 7-8 hours/day of playing

I suggest a warlock first for the new experience and also, if you ever want to level faster on your rogue weapon enchants will be available earlier then caster.

And if you don’t want fiery enchant on your gear then perhaps you should level both at the same time, park rogue for rested level warlock go on rogue level a bit and warlock.

Well either way I was having trouble with choosing what to level mage like I did to max or a druid. I’ll go with druid if I play for a difference experience.

I plan on playing 16 hours a day on my 3 days off and 3-4 hours a day on days I work. Should be in the ballpark.

If you’re going to be playing that much it doesn’t matter that much which one you play first, you’ll get them to 60 fast.
I recommend playing Warlock first. they’re much easier to level with. They also get free mounts, so you can save your gold for gear/professions, and to help your rogue level next. Warlocks are also better overall in PVP match ups. More classes are able to fight against Rogues better than they are at fighting Warlocks. A 60 warlock with tons of gold from not having to buy mounts is going to help out huge with your rogue and their Engineering
