Context, I used to play retail until just after the release of SL off and on, but switched to classic.
I came back to DF, and the graphics look… vivid but… faded and blended together. It makes very little standout. When I did a heroic to test my talents, i found everything was just clumped and the same. I don’t know if anything has changed graphic wise since the release of SL, but it really makes it difficult to focus. Going back to classic, which the graphics aren’t as good, everything is clear and discernible.
Anyone else have trouble like this or have someone solutions that might help?
The above poster is correct, there are options to change the contrast and brightness settings in-game in the graphics options part of the interface. Higher brightness and contrast will make everything stand out better.
You can also change your monitors settings, there should be a button or option somewhere on the physical monitor itself. If you have an Nvidia graphics card, you can also change a lot more options in the Nvidia control panel or GeForce experience. I know exactly what you mean by everything looking washed out, but if you use Nvidia’s settings to your liking it really looks like a totally different game.
I thought the same when I played SL. I don’t get how people can see in raids and dungeons. Everything washes together and I can’t see a dang thing. I AM KRUMTOILET!!!
I found out the graphic being too dark for some reason ,so I’ll have to back and make adjustments. As for faded and blared together ,that is an issue of old data ,this commonly happens in videos over time when repeated, this is the reason we have Tuesdays, yet that doesn’t always works on old designs using old methods < this would have to be redone using technology of today.
Nvidia control panel has a tab called desktop coloring where you can control the contrast, brightness, and color vibrance. I would try turning contrast up in increments and seeing if it makes WoW’s colors look less faded and blended, while balancing it with different brightness levels. I like a more realistic look to WoW, and I turn the vibrance down 5 or 10% so the colors are less cartoonish
If you want to see the full potential of how good WoW can look, go to the GeForce Experience program. If you don’t have it, you can download it from Nvidia’s site. If you already have the “control panel” portion of Nvidia, you probably already have GeForce Experience on your computer. Once you open the program, find the option to turn on In-Game overlay. After you enable it, go into WoW and press Alt-Z I believe. It will open a few options on your screen & you want to select the one called Game Filter.
Using Nvidia game filter, you can make WoW look so much better and different. There’s options like increasing sharpness, shadows, environment depth, and ground texture. Increase and decrease them and see what setup you like. The best option I’ve found so far in the game filter mode is Clarity. You can change the clarity level by choosing the “details” filter. It makes every detail in WoW much more focused and noticeable, and once you start using it it’s basically impossible to play without it. When I turn off my Nvidia game filter I don’t even know how people play retail. Everything is so damn dull and blurry.
WoW’s in-game graphics options can also make things look way better and defined on higher settings. If your graphics card is good, then raise all of the graphics settings to as high as you can while still being able to get decent fps. Hope this helps.
Blizzard has fallen in love with monochromatic settings the past few expansions.
Castle Nathria was all red, from setting to spell effects. Sanctum was all gray, and Sepulcher actually had some color variation, hooray.
Make things different colors please blizzard, i don’t want to go into the red raid with the red spells and have trouble seeing the red floor effect on the red floor again.
