Oh wait, interview for the next week? great news. We gonna heard some more lies! like in the Alpha/beta interviews. Where’s my tier sets i was promised!?
Not saying I agree or disagree. I’m just here for front row seats.
Man, i can’t wait for the questions that preach gonna ask.
“We heard some players talk about covenant balance, and to make sure that players don’t feel obligated to swap we decided it was in their best interest to permanently lock players to their covenant choice in 9.1.”
Oh wait, Night fae is now the meta? well i gotta grind a whole month now. Thanks ion
“we will answer softball questions” “yes lore still somehow has a job”
I play frost mage, and I feel like I’m the only Venthyr every dungeon I go to lol
Players literally meme and says on twitter that convenant are stupidly not balanced at all, players will optimize the fun out of wow. And you can go literally on icyveins or wowhead then see what is meta. they are just playing the blind guys really hard.
Why a paladin shouldn’t go kyrian, why a druid shouldn’t go convoke?, why a warrior shouldn’t go venthyr?, why a shaman enhancement shouldn’t go venthyr? or why shouldn’t elemental shaman go necrolords?
Why a shadowpriest shouldn’t go venthyr? why a disc shouldn’t go venthyr?
Convenant locked abilities is a huge mistake.
To give twitter some credit, I feel like this meme was pretty accurate. I think a bigger problem is when your covenant is good for one spec (venthyr is good for frost raiding) but just awful for another spec (every fire mage needs NF for CDR). It really discourages experimenting with other specs when you have to grind out more renown. Which in turns is lower spec representation and may make a spec look worse than it actually is.
Also shadow generally goes NF now for PVE. Venthyr is more a pvp thing.
Can’t wait for Ion to ironically ramble about “meaningful choice”.
This meaningful choice was dead on arrival. How you expect there’s not a meta with these convenants?
There’s always a meta. People have a habit of optimizing the fun out of the game and sometimes lose sight of what a video game is supposed to be.
I am not one of them otherwise I’d be a Night Fae on this character playing Affliction.
But we all know Necrolord Warlocks are the chaddest warlocks.
I can relate with my shaman main, you gotta specialize into enhancement for the rest of the xpac or elemental shaman. with both different convenant. The dps difference is way too big.
We’ve had a lot of fire mages recently meaningfully asking how to play frost mage after seeing the PTR changes. is that what Ion is referring to?
Luckily mine is resto only and I plan to mainly do keys so venthyr is the choice for him. I considered dipping into ele but I saw that I’d have to go necrolord for the full effect and I just think chain harvest is a better dungeon tool. In the end I just decided to level up another character to dps on.
I don’t even see the fun to watch AWC. seeing people 1 shooted randomly is not what i call fun to watch really. there’s no real big thinking to outplay your enemy. I even see triple rets in arena and just rolling on people.
What’s wild is that it was feedback given to them through all of shadowlands beta. No one liked it. No one asked for it. Everyone told them it would be a problem, the streamers, the forums, everyone.
But Blizz and their big brain ego…/sigh here we are.
Oh it’s mostly for PVE. Fire isn’t looking so hot next patch after the nerfs. A good amount of people in the discord are dreading having to swap covenants (although it’s easy to grind, it’s just a chore to do) and then having to swap back should the pendulum swing the other way. I’d rather see us pick our covenant ability and have the utility (vial, soul shape) tied to covenant instead. It’s not a perfect solution, but it would let people play with off specs a bit more.
also you lose all your progress you have done to your previous convenant when you wanna switch to the new meta convenant. again a lot of more chores.
Aldor/Scryers.
THAT was hard to swap.
