Is anyone playing Hellcaller Affliction in PvE or PvP? I see zero content about that on the internet. Limiting the spec to Soul Harvester is pretty stupid, Blizzard.
Uh, Silken Court?
What do you mean? People play it only for Silken Court?
I wouldn’t say only but its one of the best builds across all classes for court.
I only play it because it’s more DoT damage and I love DoTs.
But SH does just seem better all around. It still has AOE and DoT damage but the enhancements not only to MR, but Nightfall is hard to beat.
I played it up to 2096 today in RSS with a drain soul build. Happy to answer anything about my experience.
I love Hellcaller because it feels like a true Affliction rot spec. I don’t want to be a mage with Soul Harvester’s single target focus (basically replace ice lance with SB, and make Rapture and AoE burst every minute with Soul Rot).
Wither and Blackened Soul do A LOT of sustained damage while extending your curses, but I feel the spec lacks potency in other areas. Unstable Affliction could def use some love. I wish casting it on a primary target would spread UA to everyone within 10 yds (up to like 3 extra targets). It’s also disappointing that the Hellcaller tree has no Soul Rot related abilities; it could’ve been the perfect opportunity to add back Inevitable Demise (I miss big drain life healing!)
In terms of difficulty in Shuffle, I find it easy to spread pressure and stay alive, but I feel the spec lacks a way to counterplay and “punish” the enemy team for bad positioning or misplays deeper into dampening. You really need to monitor your teammate dps to make sure you’re doing proper priority targeting to land a kill.
I actually prefer Hellcaller for PVP (BGBs) because it feels more dot focused, and Curse of Satyr + Jinx is especially nice to have.
I agree with you, Hellcaller is more the Affliction fantasy Imo, the “mage like” Warlock spec was always more likely to be Destruction. Hellcaller is purely based on a single dot, I just hope they will make it better for Affliction in the next patches.
I swapped to SH just to try it in a BG Blitz.
It is so much better honestly, when you put aside the wanting to do more DoT damage.
Shadow Bolt + Night Fall hitting people for 600k does so much in securing those kills. And honestly it’s still really fun from a DoT perspective, I really like Shared Fate.
i litterly came back to wow just to play it and i already hate it with a burnign passion cause u cant put darkglare and malevolence in macro like you could dark soul they got a plate main in charge of warlock design
Hellcaller works but Soul Harvester is better, at least in PvP
If you’re going to do Hellcaller should probably just play destro
Aff and Destro kinda switched places this expansion
Personally, I think SH is the best thing to happen to aff since Legion. The whole sustained rot up to 3 target niche with restrictive talent selections was really tiring to experience 3 expansions in a row. Historically aff’s single target pressure is sustained and lethal, while still having okay cleave pressure. I am happy to see that damage profile back with SH.
Yeah destro hellcaller addresses these problems. It just has better synergy with it. Also instant cast immolate is HUGE
So it’s bad because you can’t make a macro? Such a bad reasoning. Most spells that didn’t have a global cooldown now do, even Avenging Wrath and many others.
Diabolist is better atm for PvP, Wither got nerfed and Immolation buffed. That combining the CB buffs + Diabolist passive.
What do you exactly mean by that though?
I honestly disagree, it was never a big deal to cast Immolate. People never even try to kick it and if they do they lost their kick for the next CB/Fear. Instant Immolate is not as game changing as people make it sound like.
yes its horrendous design
What has horrendous design?
are you 10 sec tom and unable to look what we were previously talking about?
Are you so blind for irony that you can’t see what’s going on? Your reasoning has been the worst so far.
If you’re complaining that you can’t macro two spells together because they both trigger the GCD, that is some low effort stuff. Either make a castsequence and wait out the GCD, or, shocker, use two keys for the two spells.
so dog **** solution when dark soul was off the GCD forever and set up is already long enough as it is but go ahead and try and convince me how waiting out GCD is fun
You’re literally posting on a level 79 character. But the reasons you can’t be taken seriously are others. Feel free to 1v1 my warlock and get beaten. Beginner.
First, you talk like someone who’s low IQ. Second, you being lazy doesn’t make it a bad design.
Now you find it fun? Amusing. You should decide what you actually want…
It’s not, Hellcaller is still better for destro.
Destro has sustained spread pressure with instant casts, and wither stacks/blackened soul. And it does what aff rot never could because it can actually secure kills with a double coil chaos bolt dump
SH aff now has the scary single target and cleave burst windows destro had for the last two expansion. Like, SH aff has higher single target dps and burst than any destro build rn.
It’s a massive deal actually. Having your defacto dot be an instant cast is huge, from a mobility and gcd stand point. Destro benefits from it so much because all its dot damage is allocated to a single spell meanwhile affs dot damage is spread between 5 different spells. Also I cannot emphasize enough how big the mobility aspect is
