Looking for some help setting up Hekili Rotation Helper for Arena. I notice it sometimes has me using unnecessary abilities that aren’t good for PvP in certain situations such as opening with metamorphasis and all other CDs just to get locked down.
Is there a way to set it up so it tells me what abilities are best to use in PvP situations versus brainless PvE rotations?
Shouldn’t be using a rotation helper at all in arena esp if your class is DH

Figured I’d get at least one of these comments. I find the addon helpful, unlike your comment.

Meta off cooldown, never press defensives.

I didn’t mean it in a hurtful way - arena rotations are generally very very simple, if you’re using a pve rotation addon and focusing your attention on it, it’s going to distract you from other things going on in the game.

That’s how it’s default setup, looking for advice on how to customize it better
Lot of DHs don’t use it right away. Into my kyrian warrior for example they wait to get speared and then use meta to get out of it.

Ahh okay, I’ll keep trying it then. Maybe it’s a “me” issue because the out-of-the-box rotation isn’t working too hot for me

Still struggling with my rotation, hekili won’t use my defensives at certain HP %s
The problem with hekili telliong you wht globals to press is that it makes sense in a static environment with a target that isn’t moving or isn’t trading defensive cooldowns / also trying to kill you.
PvE is static. PvP is dynamic.
Because of how dynamic it is you’ll often find that you’re just not pressing buttons off cooldown because the goal isn’t to optimize damage unless you have pressure in a kill window.
For instance if you someone comes out of the gates with a 40k flesh absorb on you’ll want to chip that off before you commit stuns and eye beam. Hekili is gonna want you to eye beam there but it makes no sense because you’d be wasting your damage.
Another example is hekili telling you to use your eye beam go but enemy is on stun DR for another 5 seconds because your fel eruption and eye beam got off kilter on their CDs. The better play there is to hold eye beam until fel eruption comes back and then use it.
Arena isn’t the place for an addon like hekili because its way too dynamic of an experience. You’re not just pressing your buttons neccesarily the moment you have them.

actually his comment was quite helpful, if your looking at a rotation addon it takes your focus away from other stuff like cds, trinkets, etc. i highly recommend not using hekill. demon hunter rotation is so easy
XD i didnt even notice the name
all the glads are using hekilli right now you suck if you dont lol

This is what I was thinking too, but every time I ask for help the usual answer is “just use your PvE rotation” like that’s all DH need to know
I mean the meme about DH’s is antiquated and dumb, Demon hunter literally presses on average as many buttons as every other spec in the game, but was faceroll in BFA so people blah blah blah. I promise you 90% of the people on these forums play DH they won’t get anywhere because of how finesse the class plays now considering you’re kiting most of the game.
The setups are simple with Demon hunter. You have a 30 second single target stun that lines up with your 30 second eye beam. Eye beam in to death sweep and unbound fel rush is what your “go’s” look like. So basically everytime youi press fel eruption the next global is eye beam.
Openers generally look like immo for fury and fel blade to gap close nad more fury (don’t want to waste the unbound charge). At this point you have enough fury for fel eruption - eye beam - death sweep - fel rush. Getting comfortable with that window is the first thing you need to do. After that there isn’t a proper “rotation” with DH outside of just blade dancing on CD because you don’t have a reliably resource generator. So its’ like you’re pressing chaos strike as you have the fury to do so and fel blade when it comes off CD and you’re @ less than 80 fury.
Generally you wanna use meta as close to your last eye beam as possible to get the most value out of the CD and extend furious gaze, but again arena isn’t always about getting the most value the way PvE is, meta is really good as an immunity & gap closing if you have pressure, etc.
Starting to have the feeling this is troll :\
Blur is a pre-emptive defensive, not a reactive one. You don’t really press blur @ low HP. You press it @ high HP in anticipation of taking a lot of damage.
So if your healer gets CC’d or a warrior commits cooldowns in to you…you’d just blur high there.
Pressing blur when your health drops to critical levels doesn’t really do anything for you, so the ability really only gets value at high HP levels which to be honest is the same in PvE. Hekili telling you to use a defensive is bad because the addon is REACTING to your health bar, which really isn’t how blur should be used.
