I wont be upgrading mine any more unless they do something with them to make them worth more than not having to keep mogging every 18 minutes when more gear drops.
They should give looms a rep/renown bonus or something…anything…

So what you’re saying is: buff heirlooms, make them easier to upgrade. I totally agree.
The ideas for new ones isn’t bad, but otherwise I think it’s because they’ve become redundant. You noticed Heirlooms when they were what is now on wow classic “joyous Journeys” or in other words, a mechanic that halved a very long and grindy process.
you simply don’t need them anymore. leveling being a grind is a thing of the past. I’d rather see an heirloom set that reverted leveling to that grind if anything else. an exp penalty set.
ITT: OP discovers that Luxury Tax is expensive.
I really don’t want to return Heirlooms to when they were op af.
That actually made the game worse. Especially when playing with others.
Totally disagree. Having people who played the game be able to get a stronger start when leveling is something I have no problem with, and I actually find it a pretty satisfying part of building up my warband.
I’m fine with a luxury tax, but the point is that heirlooms provide little to no incentive to continue paying said “luxury tax.” It’d be nice for them to be worth pursuing again.
They kind of do, if people don’t skip all the bosses in a dungeon to get them cleared as fast as possible.
It actually wouldn’t matter if they kill all the bosses or not…
More bosses killed = more chances for loot to drop = more chances that loot will be an upgrade = more gear upgrades overall. It’s best to kill most of the bosses, but people are impatient and kind of stupid.
I’ve seen runs where people are too impatient to kill a boss that’s literally along the main progression path, just because it isn’t required to get to the end.
Was a little bummed to see the exp bonus gone, but aside from that, I still use them. It’s one less piece of equipment to keep relevant as you’re leveling. With all of the alts I go through trying different classes/specs, loom gear is still worth the investment.
That may be, but it is ultimately relevant when it comes to leveling… you out level what little gear you do manage to get in dungeons so fast that your upgrades may only persist for one or two dungeons until you are level 80… and as I already said, you have absolutely zero guarantee of getting anything for any specific slot… it is 100% possible to run dungeons from 10 to 80 and have one or more slots that never got upgrades.
They help fill slots that otherwise would be empty at low levels.
Basically thats it.
Just make them equal to dungeon gear again. Literally nothing wrong with how they were before, and after Shadowlands I’m paranoid enough to believe every little thing to make something longer/inconvenient is done to pad out that /played metric the shareholders like to jelq over.
70-80 might be pretty quick, but it’s still slow enough and painful enough at 75+, that having gear as current as possible is a boon. Some stats are better than none.
Wait… why are we even arguing? We both want them to fix heirlooms… right? my first post about dungeons was in response to someone else saying that dungeons do drop enough loot to keep your gear leveled… when the fact is, with how fast we level and the random nature of drops, they don’t… not reliably anyways… they can, sure… but more often than not you will be stuck with the same 3 or 4 items for 10-20 levels or more…
They need to be fixed or refund my gold.
I certainly see no reason to spend the exorbitant amount of currencies upgrading them. I don’t run dungeons while leveling. I just do Questing alone and have no issue filling slots aside from rings and trinkets. And with my max level toons, I can just craft gear using the Marks of the Past whenever I feel like it’s necessary.
At the very least they need to redo the upgrade system for Heirlooms. Trying to sit there and figure out which token I need to upgrade which heirloom is a headache. Just clear out all the tokens and make Heirlooms automatically scale to 5 levels before max.
Still good for levelling since you level so fast and they scale with you until whatever upgrade path you have.
I’ve seen players sitting at level 30-40 with a 100 iLVL, and when that happens tanks are almost impossible to heal, healers don’t do anything and DPS might as well just be on auto follow, all because they don’t use heirlooms and out level their gear too fast.
Heirlooms are leveling gear that doesn’t need to be replaced until leveled out. This means that while the ilvl is lower, you don’t need to constantly rely on RNG to get new gear every dungeon.
But yes, I miss flat rate XP + higher ilvl w/ heirlooms… They were nerfed to the ground because braindeads thought it was unfair to new players, but isn’t the point of an mmorpg to have advantages and power from playing?
