I would be absolutely thrilled if the devs added heirlooms for the wrist, hand, waist, and feet slots in 9.1.5 so that we could potentially equip an entire set of heirloom gear.
Now that heirlooms have been nerfed to the point of not being especially more powerful than level-appropriate dungeon or quest gear, and these last four slots contribute very little in terms of stat budget to begin with, the differential in power gains would be negligible.
However, it would feel very satisfying and freeing to have a full set of bind-of-account gear that levels up with you and can be enchanted.
Now that it is not mandatory to level up professions from past expansions, there would also be very little impact on the professions market as players are nowadays more likely to buy old expac gear for the transmog value rather than to upgrade continually as they level up.
The heirlooms set bonuses as of SL pre-patch are a little lackluster for the way most players level up, so additional set bonuses could be added for wearing 7 or 8 heirloom pieces that provide a direct, static experience gain or primary or secondary stat gain.
Those weapons have a lot of gem sockets and offer an alternative in secondary stats to other looms.
I worked hard to earn what I could in 5.3 (only first kill was a guaranteed drop and after that it was low RNG), but would not begrudge it if others could earn them now, and would myself go after the other ones that I did not earn yet for the appearances.
I do think that they should be harder to earn than the regular looms, though. Perhaps they could be reinstated as a low drop rate from Garry, or purchasable with badges during Pandyland timewalking?
I’d love full heirlooms and never having to worry about upgrading gear again until max level. It’s all superficial anyway since any of the gear you do get to upgrade only lasts for an hour or two before you upgrade it again.
