Heirloom Track Standardization

Hello, recently the addition of the prepatch heirloom ring had me thinking about heirlooms as a whole. I believe the current way to upgrade pieces is getting increasingly overcomplicated.

Several pieces start with only going up to character level 39, then you have to buy upgrade items for each and every one and remember which order in which to do so. I believe this current system is a bit bloated and would personally love to have them all perhaps standardized to up to level 59 and you buy an item either at large cost to upgrade every weapon/armor slot or in smaller cost to upgrade each up to 69. Thereafter it would feel nice to keep up with it being up to 2 xpac out of date max level + buy to get to current xpac starting ilvl til whenever it feels good to push it to current max.

As an aside on the topic; for many, now that there is near no reason to assume an xp buff is coming back given the new achievement rewards, I believe normalizing lvl caps and perhaps beefing up their stats would make them far more desirable. It feels unfortunate at least to me, that every few levels dungeon gear is just simply better, but I don’t put it on knowing I will forget to re-equip the piece when it is high enough ilvl to be better again. The current bonuses don’t make or break that choice, it is just simply nuisance at best.

While we’re on the topic of heirlooms, how about some heirloom bags, bracers, gloves, belts, and boots?

Wanted to echo that current heirloom system feels bloated, moreover with the level squish doesn’t feel as good.

The cost of getting/upgrading heirlooms nowadays doesn’t seem wholly justified, maybe in WoD spending thousands of gold for a single upgrade felt fine as heirlooms still gave bonus xp and that you made a lot of gold but nowadays it’s a system I mostly ignore. (A cost which wasn’t refunded even when a nerf to the bonus xp it gave happened and is probably one of the biggest reason people bough heirlooms)

The warband bonus, which is free, that will be applied for each character you cap in TWW seems way better to me than anything current heirlooms can offer.

Yeah, I agree that the heirloom system upgrade tracks have gotten a bit out of hand. I originally farmed full sets of heirlooms back when they cost valor and we didn’t have the collection system. The exp boost was great and helped a lot.

Now that they don’t give the exp boost (they still have some similar bonuses, but not the same), the upgrade costs don’t seem worth it to me for the higher tracks. Maybe there is some way to address that.
