curios about the exp bonus from heirlooms
lets say they are only 0/4 in terms of upgrade meaning the stats stop scaling after they reach level 60 does that include the exp bonus as well…or does the experience continue just not the stats
XP bonus stops at what ever the max level of the heirloom is so you would have to upgrade it hence the whole refund movement since they are taking the XP away in shadowlands.
Heirlooms stop working when they reach the level after their level cap. So if its rated to level 60, you will get the bonus until you hit 61.
Save your gold since in the next expac the bonus is being removed.
But other bonuses are going to be added … We will have to wait and see if the new bonuses make them worth the cost …
Also when it takes 12 ish hours to lvl from 1 to 60 in SL … EXP bonus doesn’t mean as much .
Hold up, the XP bonus really stops working as well? So my level 80 warrior who’s still using the non-upgraded lvl 60 heirlooms is doing this for no reason? I knew I would obviously be missing out on the stats from using higher level gear, but looking at the tooltip doesn’t seem to suggest that I’m not getting the XP bonus anymore… Feels like I still level pretty quickly, but I never tested or anything to confirm if the XP bonus was actually working. Guess I should probably switch those slots out in that case then, lol
Take gear off kill a mob … put gear on and kill same mod… See if there is a diff .
agreed…good point actually
but I’m trying to level as many toons as possible before then
with the little amount of time it will take to lvl in SL I’m not bothering … I have a max everything all rdy but I like to do a fresh start for new X-pacs… Just me though…
Is this true? ![]()
Yes.
Confirmed:
-XP is being removed.
-No refunds are planned.
Stated but missing relevant information:
-Blizzard “would like to” add a replacement stat for the XP. There is no word on what this stat is or even might be. It’s possible they will add nothing.
How annoying these developers are. I have collected them for that specific reason. There was something special about being able to level a bit faster than you normally would.
Oh well, another change that no one wanted. Probably intended to prolong gameplay so their time in game metric looks good.
I can confirm that if your heirloom is below your level you lose the exp bonus…I just tested it myself
This conspiracy theory falls flat when the leveling has been made significantly faster for everyone.
It’s impossible NOW to build a full set of gear without gaining a level (unless you turn xp gain off), so having a set of gear that scales with you will still have value. Leveling with heirlooms will still be faster than leveling without heirlooms because it ensures your power level remains consistent.
Finishing a dungeon with full heirlooms under current conditions is almost a guaranteed level at any point in time. It’s legitimately possible that they had to turn the XP off because one dungeon would result in multiple level gains in the new system.
This is coming from someone who believes Blizzard should make an exception to their normal stance and offer a one-time refund to those who are unhappy with the change (I would personally keep the heirlooms for the reasons above). This is a unique enough situation and I think being pointlessly intransigent at a time when their customer satisfaction rating seems to be at an all-time low is a bad look.
I don’t care which side of the debate you are on—ensure that your arguments make sense.
This. I’ve heard numerous people say that they are going to implement something in place, but I’ve seen 0 evidence to back it up, so we’ll just have to play the waiting game.
refund movement. lol. clowns
I think what the plan is, is to add a stat that benefits that class to do a little more damage so you’ll kill things faster which somewhat compensates for lack of exp bonus. The faster you kill the faster you level…
this was one theory that could be true but as mentioned before Blizzard is unpredictable and this may or may not happen
With the amount of times Ion has said one thing and then done the complete opposite, my rule of thumb is as follows:
“Never believe anything Blizzard says until they say it in past tense. Even then, take it with a grain of salt.”
There have been a non-zero number of times where official patch notes on release day did not accurately reflect what they actually put in.
Currently it has been made faster to encourage new players to purchase the game and to give their remaining players something to do while they wait for the prepatch. This will change once shadowland drops. Every change they make like this is done for very specific reasons, one of those reasons is to keep players in the game longer since they are actually measured on that metric.
Blizzard has stated dozens of times that leveling in Shadowlands will be a lot faster. This has been corroborated by Alpha testers.
I’m not talking about the leveling speed buff currently on live. I’m talking about a complete revamp of the leveling system, necessitated by the level squish. Despite what I said about believing Blizzard, it is impossible for a leveling revamp to not occur. You have literally no clue what you’re talking about.
Your arguments are bad and you should feel bad. I’ve rarely needed a downvote button on these forums more than I do right now.
