I leveled my monk from level 65-70 last night. My heirloom ilvl was I believe 326 and they did not increase each time that I leveled. A quest would provide me with a ilvl of 363 for example. Did they change how they work, or is it bugged?
Have you fully upgraded them? They cap out at different tiers unless upgraded to the next one.
Yes, they are maxed.
They top out at 337/339 depending on the piece.
Thanks. Yeah, they were 337 at 70. While leveling, they were like 30 ilvls behind a quest reward. They’re even more useless now. I spent a fortune in gold upgrading them over the years.
As I know someone who was talking to me while they were upgrading all of their heirlooms I told them it was a bad idea. Heirlooms more or less stopped being relevant around BFA and the cost of upgrading them with gold was not a good investment.
I noticed it is not showing the ilvl number on heirlooms as I level, but they do seem to be increasing in ilvl as I level.
LOL, haven’t we all! They’re still valuable and worth it in the long run. Notice there is always a HUGE jump in ilvl and stats once past the “0”, i.e., huge jump at 31, 41, 51, 61, etc. I imagine it will be the same once we can upgrade them to lvl 80
Yeah, but they weren’t like that prepatch. They were 10 below questing, 20 below instantce drops. At this point I just use them to keep having to keep applying my mogs for leveling.
They smoothed out the curve for ILVLs while leveling when the patch dropped, Heirlooms were just unaffected by this change when they really should have been. They were a few ilvls lower in the old patch but not to that disparity.
I noticed this morning that my heirlooms were not increasing at all when I leveled up. For reference, I’m currently leveling my alt from 60-70 dragonflight, and my heirlooms are fully upgraded.
Granted, the last time I leveled in live was just prior to remix, but I do recall my armor scaling with me while I leveled. So it’s definitely borked somehow. I also seem to remember that the ilvl kept pace with quest rewards… they weren’t amazing stats, but not the 30+ ilvl below quest greens like it is now. My heirloom trinket at level 67 is currently ilvl326, and a blue trinket that just dropped for me is 359.
I have to assume this isn’t working as intended. I get wanting them not to be too powerful… but they aren’t even serving the basic purpose of keeping pace any more.
are you fully upgraded?
Heirlooms are good for the early levels.
Not so much once you start getting to 50+
I stopped really using heirlooms when they nerfed the crap out of them. The only time I pull them out is if I make a new character and run them through Exile’s Reach. Once I’m out of there and into the main world, I ditch them. Without the +EXP boost and the nerfed stats, I just don’t view them as worth it anymore.
As for upgrading them, I only use Timewalking badges because I’ve got nothing else to spend those on.
They cap out at ilvl 337, so around level 63-64.
i 100% agree with you! i just said this last night in discord lol
I spent all my gold upgrading my heirloom sword for my dk and when i got to play after patch my 2hander heiloom sword was noticeably less powerful then a green item i got in dragon flight zone. Granted i was only level 45-47 but after i hit 50 i switched back to the heirloom 2hander sword and got a blue axe that made the heirloom look like a skinning knife…
I remember back in the day, heirlooms gave you bonus xps but the effects of the full suite now are just trash and stat wise, ocne you are 45+ doing dragonflight quests just blow that heirloom stuff out of the water
Damn, seriously? Why do I recall them upgrading with me until one level below max? Was there another heirloom change other than the patch on Tuesday? Why the hell would they make them crappier than questing greens?
I think it’s a result of them changing the ilvl range now that DF is the baseline 10 - 70 experience and they forgot to properly tune Heirlooms to work with that change. So now Quest greens out-scale Heirlooms.
Yes, it happened after the patch. When they adjusted ilvls on gear, it seems they didnt apply it to heirlooms.
Is there any word when they will fix the Heirloom issue? Yes, I know people have various thoughts about spending gold for Heirlooms, but I did spend gold on them and they are not working. I’m leveling my DK … around level 64 now … yet even crappy greens are better than my Heirlooms even though I upgraded them to work until level 70. At this point I’m having issues with my gear being low level and the quest rewards don’t occur quick enough to compensate.
