I calculated the amount it costs to even get the gear to level 60 and it would cost a new player coming into the game around 900,000ish gold just to hit that level on their own as a solo type player. The gear also from dungeons needs to be better for players where they bad gear when they get to level 59 before they reach to dragon isles then you gotta pray just to beat the mobs on luck mostly. As a suggestion for the players leveling in dungeons mostly i would offer more gear loot because you hit 1-2 levels per dungeon and you only get 1 piece of gear max per dungeon so perhaps blizzard can make the heirlooms a lot cheaper for new players to afford them.

#BringBackOldLoomXPBonuses
i can only imagine how fast i’d go from 1 to 70 with them old bonuses since i can already cap in a few days with only mid effort lol
Add the missing pieces (hands, feet and wrists) and add an XP bonus tabard.
Honestly, the new heirlooms are trash as they are. New players and even existing players are better off ignoring it. At most, they can be a okay but not great way to dump your timewarped badges on them.
For reference:
- Both rested XP bonuses are beyond useless because you need to sit in a inn for 10 days to get a whopping 2 full level bars of rested XP. You are better off leveling right away and ignoring rested XP entirely.
- Combat regeneration is useless since you aren’t really making use of it most of the time with every class (except rogue and mage) having a self heal. And even then, rogues can spec leech poison for a self heal and mages can conjure food, making it useless to literally everyone.
- Aoe explosion happens when you usually turn in quests or finish a dungeon, meaning it doesn’t hit anything 99% of the time.
- Stat boost is too short-lived, especially in higher levels.
Noticed that as well when i level alt toons. It gets good at level 70 when you have 200+ higher item level to begin with when you just reached level 70.
As soon they removed XP bonus I forgot that heirlooms even exists. They are not worth a single gold coin
Heirloom gear is not meant for new players though, it is meant for those that have max level characters that have an influx of gold, or other currencies, they might not know what to do with.
As far as it goes, I will use it on new characters just so I don’t have to worry about upgrades and I do try to keep them up to date.
Maybe they should have give it worthwhile bonuses then, instead of whatever kind of joke they came up with in the end. You are legit better off ignoring them entirely.
Most of mine I got when they had the bonus exp, not bonus rested exp just bonus exp.
Same, and i don’t use them anymore while leveling at all.
Last time I used mine was on my mechagnome to get him built up for the heritage set.
Well either way i seen a video about the pain without heirlooms of someone going through level 1-70 and it took them a lot of deaths and lots of cost to repair the gear over and over. As if someone with heirlooms have less counted deaths. Some quests dont offer gear and some do. So it is unfair for new players seeing someone instant killing a mob compared to someone who using lots of spells and abilities just to kill one. I don’t know but i been playing the The burning crusade and i just noticed the new players needs care for too.
I agree. I think any toon, not necessarily new players, should have experience point requirements reduced to 10% for any expansion that is not current. So, for example, ALL expansions from Classic to SL should only require 10% of the experience point level in order to level. In other words, it should take half a day at most to reach the newest expansion from level 0.
Heirloom gear should just be eliminated. It’s a gold sink!
I love this comment you posted and you gave a good reason behind it. Heirlooms are outdated now by a few expansions. I only use them to survive in dungeons that’s all.
