We have our growth pots, our shrink feasts, numerous size-adjusting toys and elixers, all temporary effects. Many different sizes of Dracthyr NPCs.
Just give is a darn height slider for customization, please, Blizz.

Please, I’ve wanted this for so long.
This would require a new engine according to them, so expect it sometime between a few years from now and never…
They’d first need to decide on a new engine, then copy all their archaic spaghetti code work from the insanely fossilized old engine and map it into the NEW engine (20 years of work that was hand painted on and stuff), launch it, monitor it for the inevitable slew of bugs that would probably make the new game unplayable for about a month, etc…
Now if it were just body presets for things like height, weight, body mass yeah that they could do… the engine just isn’t designed for sliding and adjustable models due to how static and basic WoW models are.
Only if I can be a Tauren-sized Dwarf.
Now THAT would be a sight to behold.
Throne of thunder Zandalari troll sized playable zandalari.
I’d love to see it
Differing heights between characters could be cool, and it’s hard to go wrong with more customization options.
I’m definitely not disagreeing with you because idk how that stuff works but the effects are already part of the game, albeit temporarily. Why can’t they just apply something that makes it a permanent effect? Game design is so wonky
Because it’s a preset, like he stated earlier. Presets are already in, sliders are not.
As of now this is an engine restriction I’d assume, because after 20 years not being able to have races have different heights… well, you’re behind your competition.
Because our characters and most thing in WoW are not really graphically advanced, this is why our armor and things like trees looked like cardboard cutouts or spray on pants for the longest while…
The effects essentially replace the player model temporarily with another model (Stock one for growth potions, naga, Hozen etc). These aren’t changing the character model themselves… they’re replacing them temporarily.
In other words, sadly, never.
I didn’t read that edit until after I posted and it makes sense, absolutely, on the surface.
When you use a height-altering toy or elixer not all if them change your character size in a flash. Several increase or decrease the size in animation. I guess that’s where my confusion comes from. It seems like the ability is already there just not the code for it. And to reiterate idk how game design and engines work maybe they just can’t slap in a code for it.
My guess is that the excessive amount of customization given to the dracthyr was a proof of concept that they can get away with a lot more than they currently do. I’m curious to see where that’ll lead them later on in terms of the other characters.
I could see Microsoft maybe pouring the extra resources into such a development and I’d say if Phil Collins wants to bring WoW back up to 12 million subs like he said he wants to it’d be an inevitable necessity most likely. But no, I don’t see current Blizzard under Kotick doing it.
Sad days thanks for explaining!
Ah, I forgot about Microsoft.
To quote Gandalf when the Hobbit lights the signal fire in Return of the King, “Hope is kindled.”
Well all isn’t lost just yet, we just gotta hope the Microsoft deal goes through, so someone other than Kotick who likes doing things like cutting the Q&A staff, isn’t in office and MAYBE then they’ll allocate more resources to development and innovation.
