Hearthlight Armillary

Is the Hearthlight Armillary not available on Live yet?
I was so excited to hit Housing level 6 so I could adjust lighting, but what info I’ve been able to find suggests it’s only available after Midnight.

EDIT: I FOUND IT! From the “Last Architect” in neighborhood, the Ethereal quest-giver.

i got a small 1 then i got a med 1 beth mist 37 30 med house

i just got done decorating the smaller 1 then bam med i was like sob got start all over again lol

It is in game. Lighting changes aren’t permanent though. They revert to default basically any time you do something. Like going into the floorplan editor or leaving the house.

I was expecting it to be a setting, not an actual decor piece that I needed to interact with to adjust lighting. Took a little bit of time before it showed up in my storage for some reason.

Oh that sucks.

So maybe when I log back in… no luck. I still don’t have it.

I got mine the second I hit level 6. It just showed up in my decor inventory.

I was doing other things outside the neighborhood for endeavor tasks when mine randomly gave me the alert that it was added. So, that’s what I’d recommend, just do something not directly housing related for a bit and something will trigger it.

It’s an item…

Not a setting…

The code for this game must really be a mess.

Tried this item out…

Good idea but poor execution. Why do I have to set it to the proper setting for all of my characters? If I want a certain lighting mood, it should be set once for all of my characters and any visitors. If it resets all the time, then it isn’t very useful for decorating.

I just made a new thread specifically to offer feedback on this.

It should have been a room setting, not a decor item.

E: just have it there when the user clicks on the ceiling in any room in Customize mode, another dropdown like the ceiling material options.

Blizz, please dont be silent about this.

Making it effectively useless. Combined with the fact it can only be placed indoors, despite its description saying otherwise.

It’s not useless, just inconvenient. As for the exterior, they might enable it whenever they make it so we can place lighting objects in general out there.

Speaking as someone who used to work on 20-year-old spaghetti code back in the day…

I don’t even have to see it to know what a mess it must be.

Just for clarity, does the effect from the Armillary emanate from it like a point source, or is it the ambient light level for the room being set?

Because there are some people claiming it absolutely should be an item – rather than a setting for the room – as if it were a light source, when the descriptions all make it sound like a setting switch for the ambient light level before the lights in the room take effect.
