I hate it. I don’t see why it’s recommended in every guide? Is being able to do something else for several seconds really that useful over other talents?

During Shadowlands I remember there was a period(9.1?) where feral druids were actually advised to use convoke in moonkin form while HotW is active, because the spec was this badly tuned.
In general the talent might be useful to save a bad/hard pull in m+ and similars. Basically you can perform a different role (pretty weakly) for a small time.
But yes, I agree, its not really fun or exciting at all and I always spend that point on something else which I actually like. None of the capstones are talented on my druid. I just dislike them all.
Convoke is seemingly no longer picked on any of the specs except restro so Convoke might as well replace HotW (or choice node?). At least we would have a single capstone talent that is desirable…
Yea I recall that in SL, and it never felt good, but at least it would increase your DPS.
Now, it seems like to me (and I am not pushing keys, raids, or anything at a high level) to be a real niche ‘oh crap’ button.
I never liked convoke either on feral either, always preferred swarm.
It was great as Guardian and Resto for using on a big pull for massive DPS 
In DF I haven’t found a use for it yet
In PvP (for non-Guardian specs), Heart of the Wild gives many survivability perks to Bear Form and most importantly a second Frenzied Regeneration charge which can be used immediately.

have it actually turn you into a tank for 45 sec. Have it give you all the talents you dont have like ironfur, rake etc… If it jacked up your rage generation and actually allowed you to be a tank for a min, then itd be interesting. As it is now it allows you to use 2 regens and stack ironfur, which is stupid because youre not going to be alive long enough to stack up ironfur if youre trying to tank.

I haven’t found a situation where it is useful. In fact, you reminded me I had it specced. Time to fix that!

It was op as hell in MoP.
(in pvp you could delete people at range as a feral)
They brought it back at a fraction of its former power. Then act all excited like… “hey! remeber this!?”

It DEFINITELY shouldn’t be a capstone talent. Probably the worst capstone in the game. Should be a 2nd row talent at best, or just completely removed.
Wouldn’t even notice if it was honestly. probably the best solution. I give it 8/10
I don’t use it. Protector of the Pact and Natures Vigil is better imo. You don’t need to change your rotation for it to be effective.

part of playing a druid is the ability to perform off spec stuff well and heart of the wild helps with that
if you’re having a problem with that maybe should play a more straightforward class

It is, and heart of the wild does… but it doesn’t really do that much.
Does it have niche uses? Of course it does!
You could be a sub par healer for 45 seconds and save your group when the healer dies.
Or you could turn from a cat into a bear and tank a bit better for 45 seconds when the tank dies.
Of course in both these situations you could also just BR the tank or healer, and throw out something like typhoon to buy an extra second or so.

HotW as a 5min buff is dumb. It could be reworked to give us everything we lost from SL.
Resto - 25% increased cat damage and energy regen(lost this with feral affinity), bear #% damage reduc, Moonkin #% spell damage
Feral - Increased damage reduction passive, increased spell damage
Bear - increased spell damage and healing passive
Moonkin - increased healing, bearform #% damage reduc
if HoTW buffs your offspec to as good as a main spec, that will be too OP
i’m a bear/cat so the way i use it is pop it off when tank swap then go scratchy scratchy with a bit more dips
Ain’t any tank swaps in instances. I’d hazard the other capstones help your raid more too.
